How to these specific buffs work ?Follow

Im playing with chemistry buffs ,
experiment , reaction , and theory .

But when using them aside from correcting mistakes , i notice they cause random effects. Like for instance , when i use theory to try and increase progress, it says it will lower my power , all i notice is that usually my blue bar jumps significantly and the green bar doesnt drop that badly , but when i try reaction or expirement , the blue goes up a little and the green goes down ALOT , i mean like a ton .
(plz excuse the newbness of calling em blue and green bars still trying to get a feel for what they are and how to balance em out to get pristine results)
Anyways , can anyone help explain these a lil bit ? Im also curious as to if they increase my skill faster in chemistry if I spam the buffs .
Any info would be helpfull , or if a nice guild for this is somewhere that link would be great. Thx in advance

1. Right-click the "reaction art" and it will tell you that a certain one increases durability and costs power (or success, or progress)

2. Read This and the advanced class follow-up.

Ok i read that twice now , and i think i understand it . However , i notice that the one buff that tells me it boosts progress at the cost of power , never really seems to do that . I usually get a double hit when using it . Like both my durability and progress will take a hit right after using the buff , is this just bad luck or am I doing something wrong ?
For instance I use theory and then POW both my durability and progress take major hits , so that makes me ask myself "whats the point of this so called "buff" or am i just super unlucky ?"
Dunno , still trying to get the hang of this , I'm sure I am doing something wrong but i even tried being that "button masher " that the guide reffered to and i still cant keep the recipe from going to garbage :( .
Just looking for input on the wisdom of yall who have been doin this for a lil while . I just started crafting 2 days ago so help is appreciated .

Reading through it once again ,i understand better the part about pushing durability into reserve and then working on progress, however , none of my buffs for chemistry say that they boost durability .
expirement-Raises progress, but lowers power.
Reaction-Raises progress, but lowers power.
Theory-Increases your progress, but lowers your power.

so all say that they raise progress , but what ones do i use to raise durability ? Im getting this slowly but surely , but this part confuses me . How do i boost durability if i dont have a buff that does so ?

Are those three the *advanced* buffs that you got post tradeskill level 10 or are they the *original* buffs that everyone gets? The advanced versions have the same icons but have different names and work quite differently than the originals do.

those are the original buffs. However the advanced versions of em (lvl 10 and lvl 20) look to be the same .
All say raises progress but lowers power . I mean the wording for the buffs are almost identical , which also leads me to ask , whats the diffrence between em if they all raise progress and lower power?
I can tell you this much , that guide the was posted above
is great but it talks about buffing durability . I have NEVER in 9 levels seen the durability go up , buffs or no buffs, ... ever . It always goes down , so I assume the error is lying with me somewhere .

The Tier 1 buffs deal with progress. You can gain progress by sacrificing power, durability or chance of success.

The Tier 2 buffs deal with Durability and you can gain durability by trading power, progress or chance of success.

Against this all is a random generator which assigns each crafting "turn" a result ranging from critical failure - durability and progress fall heavily through to critical success - both rise sharply.

Even in Tier 1 I had a few durability rises from the luck of the RNG. Once I even got back the pristine bar after it had gone.

If you are having bad luck then the buffs still help reduce the effect. The EQ2Traders description mentions the amounts of +progress etc but I think these have been adjusted since it was written.

Yes, from levels 1 through 9, you cannot buff durability. From 10 on, you can buff durability in one area only. I found that when I chose craftsman as a class, I got three new buffs (same icons as before) and these buff durability, but only for that skill of craftsman. Now 90% of the combines I do are not this skill. So all the food I make as a future provisioner do not get the joy of using these buffs, because that skill was culinary, not craftsman. And some of the woodworking tasks I did for the trade society did not use that skill either, they used instead woodworking skill. Therefore the vast majority of the time I could not buff durability even from levels 10-19. Those buffs came in handier once I reached 20 and the majority of the things I was making were more narrowly defined and actually using the buffs I had been given.

Did anyone else find this to be the case?

No. You get three sets of Durability buffs (3 per set). As a craftsman I got ones for Crafting, for Fletching and for Cooking

/agree with Cobra.

You got a set of three for each of the three possible paths you might take at level 20. In fact, the cooking buffs worked so well that when I hit level 20 this weekend I almost chose cooking, (artistry), over woodworking, (fletching). I even considered carpentry, (sculpting), cause I've been having fun making beds and bookcases and stuff but getting really good at making bows and arrows won out in the end!
