Is there an item that maintains its value selling and buying from merchants? Such as diamonds etc from EQ1 (which were close). Just looking for something that I can buy and give to my alts since there is no shared bank with coins.

I've not seen something like this yet. Best suggestion I have is to buy whatever upgrades/equipment your alt needs. If you just want money for your alt, then you should give it whatever items you're selling and sell through that character.

Here is what I do:
I sell stuff with my alt so any debt I might have with my main will decay while selling.
When its time to play a friend of mine goes and fetch all cash from my alt then I buy whatever upgrades availble, then I play.

The main problem for me is that I have a apartment in QH and my weak wizard has to walk for 20-25 mins to get back and forth to the bank with six 15-slots mapleboxes. He carries 700-800 and is overencumbered at 115.. :p
I regret I bought that apartment in QH for 11 gold. Much more trouble now.. :/

Well before SOE added the shared plats part to the bank for EQ1, I always found somebody I trusted like my cousin who also plays or somebody I knew would not cheat me from my guild and gave that person the money and then switched to my alt and traded the money back. I have also done this for friends. Make sure its somebody you can trust.

Well what I do for this is i keep my inv filled with backpacks and I just craft the boxes into overflow. You can put tons of them there and you get no weight penalties. It lets you continue crafting in overflow because you actually do have flree slots in your backpacks. Its a very handy system and can make you decent money in auction. Sell 6, put 6 in inv, sell 6, put 6 in inv.

Yes there is an item that you can buy from and sell back to the vender for the exact same price, 10sp.

However it is only sold in Nek forest and Thundering Steppes and you must sell it back to the exact same merchant. All other merchants give you less than those exact 2 merchants.

The item is called a scrying stone and the guy you can buy from in Nek is a dwarf that calls out "I am offering you the deal of a life time" and "Sure we deliver, i just need an address, a key, and a time you will not be home" and he is located at the beach end of the docks on your left as your come up the stairs.

I have forgotten his name and have never bothered to find the one in TS, sorry.

Per the Jan 6th patch you now get wieght for the items in your inventory.

Granted I am still running around with 20ish backpacks there, but I would think twice about doing that with bank boxes now.

Well.. Think you missunderstood me.. :)
I dont do tradeskills.. But I use the boxes in my bank to fill up with stuff because they have 15 slots and my bags (on my alt) is like 6 slots.
This way I can sell 6x15 diffrent things on my trader (dint have to underprize just to make room).
I guess I should try and get ahold of a few large bags but there are never any to buy and I guess even if it was they would be way to expensive.

well apparently i haven't overflow'd since jan 6 lol. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll take orders if i'm going to sell boxes heh.

Off Topic Tip: If you keep 1 box in inventory don't die 4 times when harvesting in Nek. You can hardly move from str penalties and its a bear to recover shards lol.
