im torn aswell, i cant decide between paladin or Shadowknight. the only thing thats realy factoring in for me is the citys, i luv how Qeynos looks and freeport is just so "Slumy" and unclean it seems. Other than that i cant realy see a difference, was hopeing someone here could tell me which is a better tank and which is better DPS or if there the same

I've always loved playing Shadowknights. I have not played a Paladin in EQ2, so I cannot comment on it too much other than to say that SKs are more poison and disease based, and a more offensive class, while Paladins are more involved in healing than hurting. So I would say a paladin is more of a group oriented utility class.

Could some paladins verify that?

well my self i play an sk but my dad played a paladin an it seemed to me like they were more of a fighter that could buff so i guess what you said about paladins is right by what i know

29 Paladin here I will give you my personal opinion after having observed an sk that is level 30.

We are yin and yang but we have exactly the same spells with exactly the same effect.

We can ward which heals they suck life all at the same level. We buff they buff. We ride around on a horse so do they.

They are exactly the same, same spells at the same level, same effects with a different name.

We get an upgrade to the same spells with different names at the same time and they do the same thing.

Good or evil in this cookie cutter world there is no difference.

The sameness of the weapons and armor for all classes just make us look the same as well.

Ah well as long as I am good at heart doesn't matter that I can't tell a cleric from an sk from a paladin but I can still spot a caster if I look real close.

Well, I woudln't go so far as to say that Paladins and Shadowknights have the same spells. They have some similar spells, but for instance - Shadowknights get DoTs, Lifetaps, Pets, Disease Based DD spells.

Paladins, from what they tell me, do not get any pet, they get heals instead of lifetaps - heals can help others in the group, lifetaps only help the shadowknight. Most of a paladins spells are, unless I am wrong, divine based instead of disease/poison.

Paladins and ShadowKnights are similar, yes, but the same? No.

Yes, for the most part they wear the same armor, but who knows what there is going to be in the future, we may see alignment attuned gear, where only evil can wear such-and-such items, while good can only wear this other kind.

The game is still young, and to pass judgement on an entire game based off of a few months of play is, dont take this the wrong way, laughable.

Stand back and watch for a min next time your in a group.

You can tell classes just from watching how they move/dodge/fight

A paladin isnt like an warrior, a cleric isnt like a druid, ranger isnt like a bard, and a summoner isnt like an enchanter.
