What are these factions such as the Tunarian Alliance and can you only join one?
There are about 4 or 5 different factions in each city. Each time you do a City Writ, one goes up and the others go down.
You don't have to choose just one, you can keep working all of them if you want. However it seems there will be special rewards if you get really good faction with just one.
And btw, only guild members can do writs.

when ye get a faction high, ye can buy things from faction merchant, pretty much things alike the city merchants, except ye can also buy titles, ie prefixes.
its possible to be on good standing with more than one, its a lot of work tho, as when ye gain standing with one, it will decrease standing a small bit with all others.
