Switching weaponsFollow

Just curious if there is a beneficial reason for carrying different type of weapons for different mobs (ie. blunt weapons for skeletons, ect.)? And if there is, are there macros for quick switching weapons?

I'm sure I could figure this one out for myself, but I'm find it easier asking....lol

I believe you can drag the weapon from your inventory to a hotkey and do it that way . then when you hit that hotkey you will equip said weapon .

And as far as benifits , i see substantial more damage from my mace when fighting skeles then i do my sword. So i am assuming that it does help .
I usually hit for 11-20 with my sword , and when i switch to my mace i hit for 4-30 . So the minimum goes down but the max goes up . I dont know if it works the same way with swords vs blunt weaps on furry mobs as there arent many furries that i get to fight. :)

oh and the damage on the sword and mace are almost identical . except the mace has a lower minimum . but both have a maximum of 11 or 12 i believe . ( at work and dont have the exact info at hand)

Hmm, I noticed the same thing. Now I am kicking my Butt because I sold off my DW hammers, just before I took a skellie quest.
I find it strange that blunt weapons don't mention if they do more Dam to undead. *shrug* I guess can't expect everything ;).

I tend to fight more undead it seems... course does shadow-blade work with a mace.. hmmm.. o_0

Does any1 actually know how 2 do this??

I've searched everywhere and found no info on a macro 2 switch weapons. I've been trying out different ways in a macro and found that u can unequip a weapon(/unequip primary/secondary) but i've failed 2 find a way 2 actually equip a weapon (/equip <weapon name> or /equip primary <weapon name> etc does not work).

So does any1 know how 2 make a macro or have any info? thnx

I dont think a macro is the way to go , just drag the icon for your weapon from your inventory to a hotkey . that should do it . then when you hit that hotkey it will auto equip that weapon , just make sure if your switching from 1h and shield to a 2h weap , that you have room in your inveltory for the shield .

Are you all sure that its the weapon that is actually doing more damage? I thought that whatever your highest skill is would do more damage. Eg: If you have a higher skill level in Great Hammer then with say...Great Spear, you would do more damage with a weapon that uses the skill Great Hammer? Thats what I though, but I was wrong once before =P

I believe this is true as well , however , on my crusader , my hammer and my sword skill are maxed and equal , and i still notice better damage on skeles with the hammer then i see with the sword. I would like to see if it works the other way around for furry mobs (like gnolls) though .

Have you actually used the hotkey to switch them during combat? The reason I ask is that I am not able to switch from a 2H weapon to a sword and shield while I am in combat mode. I can swap the 2H for the 1H weapon, but I cannot equip the shield on the fly. If the hotkey works, I'm there.

I spoke to one of the guys doing the deliveries...
He plays FFXI... says when delivering to the law offices accross from the main courthouse he gets as much as $12 in tips...

He tells me he pays for his upgrades with just tips and also pays the subscription costs...
He thinks that EQ II is a "fool's game"...

Going off topic her but it FFXI really that good?

well that depends on what you consider good...... but if you like to solo.. even a tiny little bit.. or you have time restraits and don't have 4 or so hours to play once you hit the 30+ level range.. I would *STRONGLY* advise not getting into FFXI.

my thoughts on the FFXI question are presented in this thread:

no way in hell. The only thing that FFXI has on EQ2 IMO , is the auction house system . You can put stuff up , log , and go on about your daily life . Then return and have money waiting for you in your "inbox" , oh yeah the inbox is cool too , i can send you an item when your offline from my house and when you log in , it is there waiting for you in your house . Other then that tho , EQ2 blows the game mechanics of FFXI out of the water IMO .

I believe you have to put the shield on its own hotkey and then hit that as well as the 1h weapon when switching back from 2h weap . At least thats how I do it .
