Does anyone know how to make a target key?? /tar and /target don't work. I want to be able to have a hotkey where I can target and type in the person's name. Please help ...

You have built in Hotkey for group members, F1 thourgh F6

F1 targets yourself
F2 the next member in the party, and so on and so forth....

No real reason to need to target folks outside of your group unless in raid, then you can just click on their name inthe raid window...

I have an assist key made from the macros editor.
-Open the socials window (press the O key)
-click the Macros tab
-click Edit
-in the command line type /assist <name of main tank> (without the <'s)
-select an icon
-give the macro a name
-drag the new macro to your hot key bar

When joining a new group, right-click the key and select edit to put the MT's name and you're all set.

also F8 targets nearest npc..but I've noticed it also targets resource nodes and other stuff as well. I was tanking for a group doing the gnoll tormenators in front of BB...hit F8 for the next mob but targeted the tent instead...had me confused for a moment, until one of the elders smacked some sense into me, and the fight went on.

I've never had the need to manually set an assist. If you have the MT targetted you automatically attack his target, or if you cast a beneficial spell it lands on the MT.

As a Templar, I melee and heal like this without having to select anyone or any MoB unless someone else starts getting whomped on. Group reactive heal cast at the beginning of a fight usually covers that though.

For priests the built in assist works ok. For melee and offensive casters it is much better to target the actual mob by using /assist.

The new "Implied target" window they talked about sounds like making things easier too.
