#1 Jan 28 2005 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
Well on EQ1 I could use /tar or /target to make a target hotkey. Unfortunately cant do it on EQ2. I've asked lotsa peeps but noone knows how to do this. Does anyone know???? I want to be able to target and put in the persons name in key. Help me please...I believe this could help me switch from slowing to warding faster.

You don't have to switch targets. EQ2 has this fantastic thing called implied target. You can have the monster targeted the entire fight and cast wards/heals as needed and they will automatically hit whomever the monster has targeted. And vice versus, you can have your tank targeted the entire fight and cast all your slows, dots, dd's whatever and they will hit the thing your tank has targeted despite the fact that you have him targeted.

It is great. On of my favorite features actually.

I don't know about the /target thing but the F keys are what I use. F1 targets yourself, F2 the first person on the group list, F3 the second person and so on. I do all my group member targeting using those.

I have just one macro for targeting, /assist <tank> and I use it not to assist the tank but to know what's the first target on the list. Else the implied targeting system works great.

On my Cleric I use a combo of F keys and /assist hotkeys as well as the implied target set up by SoE. Put them all together and figure out when what works best and you will become a great priest class. "hint" I put all my heal spells on my numbered hot keys and every other spell is on my mouse click hotkeys this way when in group I can F key my group members and then hit the right heal quick then click on the nuke - debuff targeting the same person then F key back to the Tank. Also if you notice that the mob is whacking on the wrong person and you need to heal them but you can't F8 (auto target the mob) cause of other mobs in the area. All you have to do is use your /assist key twice if you were targeting the tank. Then you will be targeting the group member the mob was whacking on. I say hit assist twice because the tank could get agro back by the time you target the mob and finish casting your heal so it is best to target your group member directly and heal so your heal dosen't hit the wrong target. You can also use the right F key to target them if you are sure of what F key they are.

i agree wth calendri i target the main tnak on gruops of mobs unless someone else gets hit then i hit the F key that macths that person on siglne pull mobs i target the mob and cast what is needed if you target the mob any hela cast lands oon its target (wich is hopefully the tank ) and whe targeting the tank dots/debuffs will land on waht ever mob he is hiting

this is also great for soloing as you never have to target your self for heals

Simplest thing I've found so far is to do implied target on the MT for heals etc, or mob for DoTs, DD etc and keep an eye on the group for those needing heals besides the MT. It's easy for me to simply click on the group member in the group box who needs a HoT then go back to targeting the MT when everyone's all good. All this of course while keeping an eye on the HO wheel ;) Don't forget, casting heals breaks the HO sequence so do HoTs between HOs unless someone's gonna die if you don't... HOs will help bring that mob down so much faster, obviously!
