how hard is it to get exp in EQ2? it's pretty hard in FFXI, and it's pleasingly easy in WoW. how hard is it in EQ2?

Let me say this.....basically my friend who plays FFXI and EQII says that compared to them both it take about x2 as much to level in EQII solo (that is before this recent patch) than it does in FFXI

It's easy to get xp in EQ II. Much easier than in FF XI, that's for certain. The questing system is very well suited for lvling purposes up to lvl 25 (my current lvl, but I've heard nothing bad about higher lvls so far) and this mostly soloing.

Grouping is inevitable as several quests need mobs that can not be soloed, or only at a much higher lvl.

And it is so far also faster to get xp in EQ II than in EQ I.

well FFXI was just annoying because after 12 or so , soloing wasnt even an option .
So i would say its much easier in eq2 to get xp than in FFXI since soloing is actually viable in eq2 .
And in group its even easier then in FFXI if your group knows what their rolls are. Last group i was in i got from 15 to 17.5 in like 3 or less hours ( dont know exact time cause i was having too much fun to pay attention ! :) )

I wouldn't say it is any easier to level per se, it's just that there are more oppertunities to get XP. In FF, as I'm sure you experienced, most of your time is spent waiting to get a party to get XP (I was a 56 thf/rng, but I guess if you were a whm you got parties easy). On the other hand EQ2 you get XP from quests and grouping...and you can even solo if ya want. I've never played WoW, but from what I've heard it's a little too easy...and what's the fun in that??

I my opinion, the cool thing about Eq2, I feel no rush to level my character up. There are a lot more things to do and groups are more casual...that before you know it you've reached a decent level.

The one thing that takes getting used to if you've played FFXI, atleast in my opinion anyway, is that often there are is no group structure, and many groups everyone is running off in 10 different directions. Luckily you can't de-level.
