Wouldn't have to upgrade for a good while.

That is pretty much the same system that I am using.

Way to give the Govt an interest free loan. Not that I have room to talk, I am expecting about 3k back myself.

Well, I'm only claiming myself, if I claimed 0 I'd probably wind up having to pay. But in any case, I'm moving my wireless keyboard and mouse from my current system, the soundcard, dvd burner, not sure if I'm putting in the floppy or not. if I do I'll probably grab one of those new-fangled 7-in-1 drives that have all the media readers too...now if only I could get a mini-dv drive so I didn't have to plug my camcorder in.

nice setup your looking at. One suggestion look into some other memoery possiblly. I've had bad luck with Geil myself specially if you plan on trying any o/c, but other than that you'd be good for long awhile. Also just for reference. If you claim 0 on your w4 form to your employer you will get more back at the end of the year if you end up claiming just yourself at the end of the year on your tax return. You can't claim 0 on a tax return unless you are willing to let someone else take you as an exemption which I highly doubt you're willing to do ( ie the high the # on your w4 to your employer means less return at the end of the year, the lower the number the more of a return you'll get).

heheh, hey, I'd let someone take me on as a dependant, but only if they were willing to tackle the rest of my credit cards and paid for me to go back to college....but I digress...bad luck with Geil...I was also looking at Crucial, Corsair, and OCZ...the OCZ stuff was a litle on the expensive side though, not really planning on overclocking. I really just want to be able to run the game on the Balanced setting, or one step over it without the computer bogging down on me.

That sounds like it is going to be a nice rig, but dont go with the 6200 if you can get the 6600 GT it is a little more money, but you wont be kicking yourself in the butt later for the huge performance increase for the short dough. Trust me you dont want to be playing EQ2 on anything less than an FX 5900, ATI 9700Pro, GF 6600GT or above. The dollar difference bewteen the 6200 and 6600 Pci express is not alot so.

hehe oh and little story about my RAM cause it is one of those yeah me things :) I went into Boston to pick up some more ram when I got EQ2. I was running some Geil Ultra platinum ram (very nice stuff too) but only 512, so I picked up another 512 of the OCZ PC4200 the guy could not find any and I saw two packages in the display case one was the 512 dual channel kit the other was the 1GB kit. I pointed out the 512 cause that is all I needed. I paid $128 USD for it. When I got home and installed the memory it said I had 1.5GB of ram I was like WTF... I checked the package, he gave me the wrong one I got the $298 usd 1GB kit but was charged the 512 woot woot. Go American efficiency :) Anyhoo I am glad you are getting an upgrade that is way cool I hope the system rocks for ya bud.

Thats the kinda mistake I like to see. Right now I'm running on a p4 1.6 with GF 5200 with 128mb, 784 RAM only because much to my dismay I found out once I bought my new stick of 512, one of my sockets is dead. The game runs decently in balanced mode unless I'm in a heavily populated area. In my apt I can jack the graphics up all the way, but, what good does that do me? All in all, thanks for the info guys, I'll probably be making my purchase within the next couple of weeks, I'll update once I've gotten everything up an running.

Ok so, this is basically the rig I got, I just put the order in yesterday morning, so I should have it all and set-up by the weekend. Just one change I made

Abit Fata1ity 925xe mob
3.2GHZ 540J P4
1 gig Geil PC4300 DDR2 RAM (will bump up to 2gig later)
ATI X700 Pro 256
And probably a Seagate barracuda SATA 160

Still debating on whether or not to pick up the SBlive Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Quasi Nuclear Dual charged hyperbaric ionic HST composite sound card or not.
