Well thank you SOE for ruining the economy of Grobb. Im sure anybody on that server heard the constant spam about the movelog last night. It has been less then 24hours and spells have doubled in price, and foraged items (such as tin, iron, wood, etc) have become practically worthless. Pretty much anybody who is not high level can no longer make any kind of money. I was bringing in a few silver a night selling various foraged items at 10 to 40 copper each, but thanks to move log you can't even get over 3 copper for most of that stuff!

I don't blame any of the players, SOE is the one that that decided to advertise Grobb as a "Recommended newbie server" then transfer high level charactors from another server.

I can understand SOE wanting to move players to reduce lag and such, but there was better ways they could have handled it. For starters when new players log into EQ for the first time Grobb should not have been listed as the recommended server for newbies. Second they should have limited the transfers to people under certain levels (say level 25 and less). These are just a couple of options I can think of.

Anyways I am alot less happy with this game after they did this. I can't even afford to buy my Adept 1 spells now since they are all pretty much in the 1 gold range now. Before this transfer they was about 40 to 60 silver, sometimes even less. Pretty much rare items have sky rocketed and common items (stuff the native Grobb players can actually get to make money off of) are worthless. Im pretty much to the point I just destroy most of the foraged stuff, not worth the space it takes up in your inventory now.

I really don't mean this to insult the people who have transfered over, I blame SOE for handleing it the way they did. I think they should have set aside a server to do this, or go with one of the options I listed above for the server transfers.

And you're going to make a long term assessment based on a short term market reaction?

You might wait a week or two to see if the market begins to settle back down before concluding that the economy is *ruined*.

When MR was designated a newbie server in EQ, it took a couple of months for the bazaar to settle down after the *summer of madness* and the 30 day-ers wreaked havoc on the economy there. But everything did return, (pretty much), to normal after a while.

Try not to do anything rash for now, (like destroying goods), just wait and see...

Hmm.. I think you are wrong sorry.. :)
Grobb is a new server and the oldest servers still have a long time to go before the economy has settled.. Infact, it really never settles..
But, yeah, you are right that in a couple of weeks things will be diffrent from what it is now..

He is right tho it will drive prices even higher if they get a lot of the uper end players. Tho alot of it can be side steped if you are in a good sized guild.

Alot of the adept 1's I paied 20 to 40 silver for are now over 1 gold in price and even saw where 1 moron has a adept1 up for 27 gold. This game is like RL in the fact that most peeps are greedy to the point of being stupid about it.

And yeah we understand poeple pay what the market flow demands but there is a limit to what pople can pay at what levels of the game they are in. So if SoE alows a hugr influx of 30+ peeps into a server that is avg level 12 or less then yes the lower levels may as well stop crafting or if they sell something the highter levels need that they can't get themselves then charge em out the ***** Raise the price well above what it normally cost to get your money also, after all thats what SoE wants right?

Wait 2 weeks Hahahahaha thats a joke also how long has then game been running and still has not settled down, wait 2 weeks he says. Heck I say wait 6 months then this game will be the same as eq1 all uber snots and twinkies running around :P

27 gold can be cheap for an adeptI.. Maybe it was for a spell you get when you hit lvl 50? Those should be very rare and I doubt I will hesitate to buy one for 27 gold when I hit lvl 50.
Also, spells will be cheaper end cheaper over time since they surfice more often then new players start the game.
Sometimes you can buy something really cheap because of the system where you have to be online to sell. Not everyone can or will do that so they might only sell stuff for half an hour and they want to sell fast so they set low prices.

It might get better later on, but I don't think it will ever be the same. I have been watching the market 2 or 3 times per day. The only Adept 1 spell that I can use as a 17 summoner is seism which sells for about 5 silver. My pet, if you can even find it, is generally 2 or 3 gold now. I have talked to several people in my guild who seen it for 20 to 30 silver constantly just days ago (I hadn't really looked for it, only been playing a tad over a week).

I just really think Soe could have done better if they had wanted to. I think they should have just limited the level of the transfers to lvl 27ish and below. It would have still lowered the lag of the other servers, and that was pretty much the point wasn't it?

It really isn't fair to the natives. I remember when playing on Morden Rasp just days before coming to eq2. As a newbie it was more of a challenge to hit lvl 50 on there because newbie items was more expensive. Kind of the same situation with the movelog issue on eq2. Don't you think it would be unfair to the people on morden rasp who have worked fairly hard to get higher levels if they took players from say Innoruuk server and moved them to Morden Rasp? OF course it would cause a newbie item that is 1000pp on Morden Rasp might only be 50pp on Inny server.

dude they have to pick a noob server. just cause u happen to play there doesnt mean u gotta flip out. In eq1 Xev had a bug were sharks droped 1000pp per kill. it KILLED xevs economy. however a week or 2 later it was back to normal again. the point is if they picked another server other people would be complaining so dont feal to harddoneby.

Nope the OP is right - this server's economy is going to be perma-ruined for all lowbies by the influx of higher end chars.

Prices may settle out a bit - but because adepts are going to be in high demand - and becasue they are one of the few twinkable items for high lvls' alts - prices for them, and for silver, coral etc. - will go even higher in all likelihood.

Frong - try to get in a big guild - guildmates will give or sell u stuff you need cheap. It may be that some high-end artisans have come over. Go to big zones, like Ant and TS, during peak volume, and do something like "/auction hi, could someone please make some Inventor's armor for me?" (good tier 2 mage armor). Or whatever kind of armor you need. If you don't know what u need, try "/ooc i'm a lvl x (class) and I'd love to support artisans - is there anything you can make in terms of armor and weapons that I need? I'm not rich but I have some money, and I'll buy it from u."

U never know what kind of response that will get. Sometimes a hi lvl cleaning out his inventory will just give u something very nice for offering that. You seem to care, so he chooses to help u and not someone else.

Or if u need spells "/ooc I really need xxx adept 1, but I only have 45 silver. Could someone please help me out?"

A personal touch sometimes gets you amazing help. Someone might hear your plea and realize they don't have what u are asking for, but they tell u that they have an adept you will need in 2 lvls - and they sell u that for a reasonable price. Cool players just give it to you for free. And if you are patient you can actually get the adept you need that way. Remember, take the griff to nek or TS zones and try this there, too. Have your teleport home spell ready, cuz often you get a "meet me at the bank in wherever" if you get success here.

So try to make the new situation work for you - think - you've got this sudden influx of high levels. Yeah, they've messed up the market - but they can also do cool stuff for you. Just ask them nicely. You never know.

Also w/ lotsa high lvls around you can gray-travel -- group w/ a high lvl who is not busy, and this will gray out all mobs - and u do some safe traveling - or harvest safely - or do cataloging quests safely, etc. Every cloud has a silver lining. GL to ya!
