gaining factionFollow

I was spanking gnolls in Archer's Wood last night and following one of the rounds of doggy death, got a message saying that I had improved my faction with, (i think), one of the merchant groups.

Until that moment, I was not even aware that faction was even an issue in this game.

So what other factions are hiding out there and what do they effect in the mid/end game?

Centaurs in Thunderring Steppes.. that's all I know of. Maybe the Bloodskull orcs? And the Firerock Giants I think have their own factions.

Good to know... I always used to dispatch them with wild abandon in SK... who are they aligned with?

When you kill gnolls, your faction with the far seas trading company goes up. I have no idea what this does as of yet. However, with the centaurs, they are not aggro to you when you first go into the thundering steppes, but as soon as you kill a few of them, they will aggro you. Not really a good idea to kill them if you plan to harvest T2 resources as I have had many walk into me while harvesting and was really glad they didn't. However, if you want your AQ6, well ur gonna have to kill em, and fortunatly for me, I dont really want it lol. Another place where faction comes in is in guilds. If you do a writ for a certain faction in the city ( Queynos Guard, Tellurian Alliance, The Concordium, The Celestial Watch or the Ironforge Exchange ( crafting ) ) your faction with that faction ( lol ) will go up, but your faction with the other factions ( hehe ) will go DOWN! That means that if you do writs for everyone, your faction will not go up very much, but if you do writ after writ for the same faction, your faction will rise more quickly, allowing you to purchase certain armor items from city merchants with coin and status. I have just been doing any old writ, but I am going to start concentrating on the Q Guard, as they give out heavy armor suitable for my Templar.

The factions I can recall off the top of my head are as follows:

Bloodskull Orcs Vs. Far Seas Trading Company, I think
Centaurs Vs. ?I forget?
Asilian Fairies Vs. Sullian Faries
Seamist Fairies Vs haven't killed them yet
Goblins (various factions) Vs. Unknown

Rivervale has a few factions I believe.

I'm curious about this myself.. since my standing with the bloodskull orcs cannot get any worse.. O_O

I recall in SWG greatly upsetting the jawas.. so these non-aggressive little guys would go out of their way to give me a serious spanking.. O_O

wonder if it will be something like that in EQ2 where you catch aggro from any member of a group you have poor faction standing with.....

You do. Some zones you start with even or positive faction, killing 1 or sometimes several of that faction will, just as it did in EQ1, lower your faction with them, and possibly raise it with another.

If you kill enough you WILL become KoS.
