Summoner Pets BuggedFollow

Yesterday I was grouping in Forest Ruins. Me and my party fought a single skeleton. When it died, about 7 more skeletons popped up out of nowhere, and the skeletons didn't spawn where we were pulling to. Right after they killed my pet, they just dissapeared. They didn't leave corpses or anything. This also happened with a water elemental, when the pet was killed, the water elemental turned invincible and started going back to it's spawn point. We pulled it again and the same thing happened. This also happened when we fought Skulkers on the beach. When my pet was killed, the skulkers just dissapeared and poofed back at their spawn point.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm using the Whatever Recriut Apprentice II spell BTW.

Weird. I've seen weird things w/ my pet, but not that.

Atm my sum and his lil spider (i have the adept 1 upgrade, try to get that) are hunting gnoll miners in BB. Green ^^. Good exp, good loot - and an occasional chiranic threat totem - for the bark like a gnoll quest (only need 3 more...).

Sometimes I send in pet - and it goes great.

Sometimes I send in pet and they do the "twirl" or dance. And suddenly I get "can't see" message when I try to dot the miner or heal the pet.

I back off out of tunnel and spam the "follow me" button for hte pet. Most of the time that draws him out, and the miner follows. I can kill and then loot the miner. If not I run to zone, go back and try again.

Oh, I learned in here - in Allakhazam - from another summoner that to end the 'dance' that your pet and the target sometimes do (they spin and twirl far away from u sometimes) is to hit "pet follow" (green arrow) and then pet attack. That usually stops the dancing. I wish I could remember who told me that - that has helped me tons - if you see this, thanks!!!

I have seen this a couple times with my pet , but i dont think its the pet thats doing it . I usually just chalk it up to being a despawn for that area , which happpens periodically .

But yeah it sucks , ive had it happen when my pet isnt dying and is actually winning . Really blows then cause you know you could have beaten em and they just dissapear :(

Hello.

To follow up on both issues mentioned in this thread:

1. Random despawns, you can *sigh* now, as this problem still happens, and i mean to everyone. Mobs will despawn (due to their time to do so) (or because the quest despawned them) (or because the server got confused, or whatever), mobs will also just scatter (i hate that one) when you attack. And sometimes too the mob will ignore your attack. Don't worry tho, the vast majority of the time the mob will be happy to attack your little one.

2. Pet Dancing. Still as annoying as it was at lvl 6 as it is now at lvl 31. One of the best ways to get this to stop is to press the Guard Here command on your pet command window. That forces the pet to stay in that spot while fighting and while not fighting. The only down fall to this is you ahve to press 'follow' when done.

Don't worry tho, it is not the pet doing this, but soe's server.

Also to lay another worry to rest: NO your pets do not aggro adds. the pet will never aggro adds, it has no aggro radius.

To address another point here: Can't see target.

There is a pathing issue with mobs, especially groups in dungeons. When agro'd, they might run into the roof of the tunnel/cave/dungeon and fight from there. Your pet follows and fights. Since both mob and pet are in the roof, you cannot see them, thus cannot cast. Easy way to tell where it is, is notice where everyones' toon is looking. If they are looking up, most likely the mob is in the roof.

This may happen when in a group, where only 1 person has it targeted. Unfortunately, /assisting that person has not always worked.

I've seen this is BB and Stormhold.

Best way to clear this is like you said, back out of the tunnel, "Follow Me" to the pet, and the mob will follow. Just watch where you retreat to :)

If the pet is hit by the mob while retreating, it may turn and fight. In that case, just repeat the "Follow Me" until you can see the pet and mob.

The Pet Dance may be a bug, but it's fun to watch...the Dance of Death. :)

also a word of advise, a pet is a great puller. What I mean by this is say there is a quest mob in the middle of a huge group of aggro mobs. I send my pet in, he aggros the mob and nothing else, spam pet back down and he runs back to me, out to an un-aggroable safe fight to finish my fight.

I do it on Catorsis(sp?) Knights all the time.

I frequently get the "Cannot See target" when the pet is right in the middle of the corridor in front of me, not even a leg into a wall.

And the "Pet Back Off" seems not to work. Either that or I specialise in summoning deaf pets. The problem obviously is they turn again if hit and against a fast-hitting mob they just don't back off worth a damn.

While pet-pulling sounds fine in principle (and I do it all the time in EQ1) my idiot pet will like as not run away from me after attacking the mob. Back Off produces a sort of resultant vector and the fight slides sideways through the camp while I hope I can be in range to heal the pet without aggroing the camp.

And sometimes you can tell the pet to attack and it says "Yes master" and does nothing. I swear these things have a union.

i have a summoner thats why im reading this part of the bored but on my fighters i have killed a mob and out of now where like 6 mobs jump me dont know if this is the same thing or not but they wont go away till they kill me or i kill them but when i kill them they leave no bodys
