We had an Impede Adept I drop yesterday and I really can't figure out what use it is.

I went for the "Holly" snare as the Adept II skill at 20 because it seemed to claim it was a slow as well. It appears to have a duration of several milliseconds and if it slows I haven't noticed.

In a game where you can't kite and mobs warp on you anyway is there any point in scribing this or should I just let someone pay me gold for it? Smiley: smile

Snare slows the enemy, this is very usefull in some situations.

It allows a fleeing group member some time, and it does allow you to kite. I use it all the time to kite yellow ^^ group mobs, its one of the few ways I get decent exp as I can rarely get into a good group. ;)

It actualy has a usefull duration and while its not a root, it slows the enemy very noticable.

I use it (on occaision) for pulling particularly nasty melee mobs. Allows you to get to camp not quite as beat up and gives the Main Aggro a little bit longer to cast his taunt before melee begins.

I use the snare line primarily for soloing. It's not nearly as powerful/useful as it was in EQ1, where snare was a given on about any mob. However, when you are arrow kiting it really helps out, as you can keep the mob off of you for the majority of the fight as you run around pumping the beast full of arrows.

The duration isn't that long you are true, but it's definately better than several milliseconds... I'd say 10-20 seconds or so, but still enough to keep the mob back, and if you keep moving even after the effect expires, you usually add another 5-7 seconds before it catches you, and then the timer is back up soon after that.

In a group setting I never use it unless we have to get away quick from a single mob, and escape isn't up.
