I have a few questions that I am hoping can be answered.

Where can I find some information on where to find the quest for certain languages and how can I tell what languages I know and how can I change hte language I speak in?

Are there any maps online for EQ2 that are better than the Prima Strategy Guide one?

Also, when you do /time it tells you the season and all that it is in EQ.
Does anyone know how these seasons relate to our summers and springs and the such. I want to know for roleplaying reasons. I don't want to be like *Is chilly* and it be the middle of summer.

For maps I always go to clanwhitestorm.com

For maps, try: www.gry-online.pl/eq2/index.asp

You can buy language primers from scribes in the different city areas. Some scribes sell more than one language primer.

To see what languages you know, use /language
To change the language you are currently using, use /set_language Languagename

Captialization is important, so it should look like this: /set_language Common

The only quest for language that I know of is found as drops from the Giants in Thundering Steppes (Hill Giant Idols).

I have no info on the seasons and all that. :)
Happy trails.

No seasons unless you travel. That's just too hard to program atm.

The first monster language quest I found was in Blackburrow. Sometimes gnolls drop (in chests) a chiranurite (sp?) threat totem. Examine it and you get the gnoll language quest. Find 5 more and you speak gnoll. I've found 2 or 3, but BB is grayed out to my Fury. Saw someone selling the totem for 17g and 60 g (yes 60g) last I looked on the broker.

I remember reading somewhere that if you speak giant you can get a quest from a non-agro giant somewhere. Not sure if this is true, though.

Right, learning other player langs = paying 12s for a book. If not bugged I think you just buy it, and suddenly u know the lang. For dwarf or barb go to graystone scribe, for gnome or halfling go to baubbleshire scribe, etc.

So far 12s is not really worth it to learn a lang, i.e. the quests you can get so far don't pay u back for the investment. The exception may be... there is a guy in TS at the docks I read about - you may wanna research TS quests. Learning his lang (dorf i think) might be worth it (over lvl 20). GL

If you learn gnome, Spindlecog in Baubbleshire gives you a quest for a helm that is on par with the rest of the AQ pieces and definitly worth doing. The Barbarian on Bridge Keep in TS gives you a quest that allows you to open the doors at night. Those are the only really useful ones I know so far, but I would bet there are more.

OK, odd question but.... is there a reason for my human toon that when I type in /languages I get:

Common
Common

Does my character know another dialect or something? Heh.

I believe this to be a bug. My Human also has this "affliction" hehehe... but my half-elf, when he started, only had one language and that was Common. Strange, he doesn't start out with Ayr'Dal... *shrug*

Hey guys. K even though you are that language you still have to buy your races primer. Sounds dumb I know but thats life in eq. I currently have 17 languages mem'd all the qenos and freeport primers from the scribes. Costs a priettty penny I know but worth it for higher lvl's give quests only if you know that language. For instance in TS you have to know the halasian language(barbarian) to talk to the guy on the gate bridge to get the gate key quest so you can enter any time at night when the doors are close and locked. Go to the Greystone yard scribe shop and purchase the primer then hail the guy on the bridge in thundering stepps. He will give you the quest and you have to go kill 10 skellys in ts then return to him then he will tell you togo kill 10 giants thenreturn and he will tell you to kill 10 centaurs then he will give you the key. But my question to the readers is where do i get the primer or quest to understand the scare crows they are the only ones i cant understand at the moment.

Just a slight correction, the guy in TS doesn't give you skellies then giants then centaurs. Its pretty random as far as I know. That's what you got, but another person will get a totally different order of quests. I kept getting giants while my friend kept getting crap like beetles and antelopes lol. Very frustrating (she kept laughing at me /sigh).

Second, there's a ton of language mastery out there.

Gnoll, giants, fairies, I'm afraid I don't know them all.

Fairies, the little stupid mobs in Peat Bog, will drop a fabric patch which, at level 31 (yes you read right, 31) will start the language quest. They are level 3 or 5 or something, so at level 31 if you want to do this quest you can kill level 3 mobs to do it. Silly eh? I assume there's higher level fairies that will also do this.

Giants - you kill giants in TS or wherever, and they will drop hill giant idols.

Gnolls drop the chiranite threat totems.

Orcs have a language quest.

Not sure what other ones have them, probably many of the races that have a mastery quest also have a language quest. Basically if it gabs at you in a language you don't understand, odds are there's a language quest for it :)

I know there's a bunch of others out there.

Now that they moved them to the drop table and not the chest table, you can get these language parts from even grey mobs.

Chief Derrog is a non-aggro giant in the southern part of TS near the gnoll cave. He gives you a quest and speaks common, so you do not have to know giant for him.

Orcs also have a language quest - Shin`Ree Dervish Requisitions maybe? I think that's waht starts it.

EG - the language starters are now no trade and they drop off the corpses of grey mobs - no more 60 gold for a hill giant idol.

Why they can make it storm and the ground look very wey and they can do lighting, so they can do it just that they have not wanted to or thought it was to much over kill. I kind of think it would be kool though there whould have to be a lot of code change at this point.

And a few other things to think about, are will all water freeze in winter do we make the grass greener. Tho it would make the game more like RL who plays the game even worrying about it?

The guy down at the docks in TS speaks Halasian (Barbarian) and gives Hunter quests which are handy to have when you're 20 - 25.

mmm may have to buy that language book now...

seasons would be nice, I don't think it would be impossible but I can see how it would be very difficult.

what I wish is I could speak the other languages you learn instead of simply understanding them.. Embeth knows Orc.. heheh that would be interesting.. heh.

For those who do not know this all Language quest drops are no-trade and now drop on the corpses of the mobs AND the chests. I have to thank SOE for this, because it is obvious people was ******** the ecomony up and taking advantage of the higher levels unable to get them.

I got the orc quest in Zek killing random orcs right outside the gates at zone in.

The quest you get from the named Giant in TS is for the Granite Tomahawk Heritage quest.

Im not sure what quests, if any, you get from Gnoll or Orc language.
