Auction Houses, Tradeskills, general newb questionsFollow

Does anyone know if there are Auction Houses in Qeynos? Or where there are some Tradeskill Societies I can Join? Is there a good way to make money besides questing and selling mob items to merchants? And finally, what's the point of paying for an apartement? I just started playing the game, I'm broke, any info would be appreciated; thanks.

There are no Auction Houses, you do all your selling from your room. You buy from Brokers or by going to the seller's room.

Every village has 4 Crafting Societies, you should join the Wholesaler first, it looks like a trapdoor. Just speak to the person outside to join.

You can sell crafted items to make money or do collection quests for your Society.

You won't be able to afford a room when you first start, but not paying just means you can't get in until you pay.

Oh and there's always /auction to buy and sell stuff too. Smiley: smile

APARTMENT:
On a note about the apartment you can first get the apartment free and if you really find 5 sp to be hard to get after a week you can do the option to "leave the apartment" (or whatever its called, it's marked on a little button when you choose access when right clicking the inn door). When you leave the apartment you can then go ahead and buy the apartment again but get to have it for free another week like when you first started playing.

Tradeskill societies:
You can find societies in each of the outer regions of your city, except those newbie hunting ground type places, the racial districts that is. On the map they should show up as any other entrance to another zone, but just a bit smaller.

It would seem as though each racial district has 4 societies. One is the wholesaler society, which you can join at whatever level artisan. And 3 other more speacilized societies, one for outfitters, one for craftsmen, and one for scholars.

You can also check the societies menu, which you bring up from choosing societies from the regular eq2 menu that is usually in the bottom left corner of your screen. In it you should see a list of a bunch of funky names which are tradeskill societies. You should be able to see the level of the various societies along with the number of members in each(though no really helpful information like if its a wholesaler society or tradeskill society or where the society is even located). You can see which societies you are a part of by looking through the list for any society names that are in green and can also choose the "leave" button to leave the society if you want to.

Auction Bouses:
There are none.

However there are brokers who let you buy items people have listed on their merchant boards inside their apartments with just the little markup of 20% which isn't really all that bad. There is also a single black market broker in each city who sells the items listed in the alternate city, but instead of 20% markup there is a 40% markup which can seem really mean and nasty and make you hate those greedy other city people.

The regular brokers are going to be loacted in each section of the main city(North, east, south, west) though I can't tell you where exactly they are I can tell you they should be there.

When you want to sell things yourself on the broker you need to buy a merchant board(sold at a bunch of NPCs all over the place) and then place it in your apartment and just right click it then and choose "Access your merchant board" or something to the same effect and follow its intuitive nature.

Money:
Basic ways you make money are just selling to people or merchants or just reverting to quests from various NPCs or just tradeskill quests which actually pay nicely kinda sorta. Also harvesting various resources and selling it via your merchant board can get you some ok source of money though mainly only on tier II resources and up seeing as people don't exactly spend alot of time at tier I.

Make sure you gather your stuff first. Then do "relinquish apartment". You get kicked out. Click the door and "buy " a new apt - it's free. Then put your stuff back out. Seven more days w/ no rent.

There are some quests that get u stuff for your apt. A birdcage, a bench, an easel.

And like people say, go to Antonica or Commons and /auction your wares if you don't sell well from your apt. Sometimes u can do really well there. /ooc and ask people what player made stuff they buy.

Note, you can't sell a bag w/ anything in it. It must be empty. Same for strongboxes (which hold stuff, good for bank cuz they are very heavy). Other boxes that are player made are for looks. GL
