Have myself a 13 Dwarf Crusader, Just finished Fawns Garden Quest and got the Hammer. It seems to be really slow but great damage so what are your thoughts on a pally using a 2 hander or the shield 1hs. If you like the 2hs is this a good weapon or any suggestions for a better one? If you like the 1hs I really need one the citizen sword is not doing so well anymore.

Weapon types are situational in my book. If you are tanking, you are better off with a 1h and a shield. If you are dealing damage, go with the 2h.

Shields provide higher AC and stats, while a 2h of any kind will normally deal large amounts of slow damage. Another reason you may want to use a 2h weapon is against mobs with damage shields. The slower you hit the less damage you take from their shield.

My Ogre crusader (now pally) used 2H mauls from the moment he could, until now. I haven't looked back since. I'm frequently (in fact, primarily) the main tank in groups I join, and I never swap out to a sword and shield.

I'm sure I could, and for all I know that extra .0000012% of tanking ability added might help :) But so far I've had absolutely no complaints from anyone concerned, and I sure do enjoy swinging that biga$$ hammer :)

Until recently he was using the Maul you get as a quest reward in the Willow Wood (can't remember the quest, though). I think the maul was actually called the Willow Wood Maul or something like that. Served him well.

Your an ogre so you naturally have higher str and sta then some of the other class's so perhaps you can use a 2hander but would it be wiser for the smaller races such as wood elf paladins to use a 1h and a shield?

This is just a guess on something I'd assume I am more than likely wrong lol :P
