It's not just video - but the theory is that two things killed rock and pop music, oh, starting maybe in the late 70s - the new super recording abilities (the technology) and also video (hello, would Janice Joplin have gotten a contract if she'd been born fifteen to twenty years later?). Now this is just a theory. It may not be all right or any right. But the theory is that w/ the heavy emphasis on technology "the recording engineers took over music", and content suffered. It sounded great but was "empty" - lyrics suffered - songs stunk.

Ok we where talking about EQ1 :) MTV sucks and has from 1989 on so back to the game. Focuse!

First let me start by saying I actually got sucked into reading this for about 3 or 4 of the first posts.......

Second.... last I checked there's about 650,000+.. again.. 650 thousand plus people who play this game.

I've seen, browsed, or noticed, maybe 100-200 posts about someone complaining.

Break that down.. 1 in 6500 is so sad, that they feel the need to come onto an internet chat board, and complain...

if you were SOE, and 1 in 6500 whined about something, would you care? I'd actually be thinking wow, 6499 people out of 6500 enjoy my product and use it regularly.

unfortunately, on occasion I get really really really bored at work and get hooked on one of these so called topics....

move along people.. nothing to see here.. nothing to see here. . move along.

First of all, EQII has around 310,000 subscribers. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01/06/news_6115915.html This was as of January 6th.

Second of all, not every single person that plays this game posts here. So you cannot assume that X out of 310,000 do not like the game because you can only find X amount of posts complaining. If every person that played EQII posted here, then you would be correct in your assumption. As it is, you have grossly exaggerated your numbers. I won't go into your "enjoy my product and use it regularly" comment because there is no way for us to know the amount of people that play on a regular basis.

Finally, this is an EQII community forum. A group of people having common interests that come to a public meeting place for open discussion. Meaning we can openly discuss anything we want that has to do with EQII. If we wish to complain about the game because we believe it can be better, then we will do so. You, of course, can complain about the complaining. But why would you complain if you dislike complainers? If you dislike complainers and dislike how they have to tell everyone how they feel, then be different and don't complain.

This is like saying that a certain pharmaceutical company should be allowed to sell their drugs because, as of 07/01/05, of the 6,446,131,400 people on earth only 99,171 died from their drugs. With such a low percentage, why should they care?

I guess you are exempt because you are complaining about the complainers and not about the game you enjoy and use on a regular basis. You sir, are not sad for complaining about complainers but are above us for posting an enlightening post full of facts. Thank you for clearing this huge misunderstanding for us. As for the rest of us, cattle back to your trough!

I'm fine with complaints; in fact i encourage them. i'm also all for open discussion, but i think posts such as "OMG SOE SUX" and "EQ2 SUX WoW KICKS ALL YOUR ***" are not and should not be considered as a discussion. what kind of information is actually shared with these posts? I want to ask one question: do any of you actually think these posts (posts I mentioned above) should be encouraged here?
