Hi
Need a run down on how joining works.
I am currently 11lvl crafter on 1 alt and i have chose outfitter.
The merchant in the society in castleview around the corner from the exchange (sorry do not recall the name of the society, poor i know) does not sell advanced manuals beyond 9.
do i need to leave this society and join another, and if so as an outfitter is there a particular one i should join so i can buy more advanced manuals.
My other alt collects drops and ingredients now and then and gives them all to my crafter.
If you read this far and have a good knowledge of crafting please write a brief lesson with any tips you have.
My thanks in advance
ps leaving work now will check when i get home

You can belong to 2 crafting societies, a Wholesaler and a Workshop. Every village has one Wholesaler and 3 Workshops (Outfitter, Craftsman and Scholar), and the Workshops sell the higher level books. Also you can leave and join them in different villages any time you like.

In game, click on your EQ button and click Societies, you'll see the full list and the ones you belong to are highlighted in green. You'll notice that they have levels. The higher level ones, the merchants have more items for sale. For this reason most people keep doing their crafting in the Wholesaler.

I'm not an Outfitter so I better let someone else answer your other question Smiley: smile

All the standard (essentials) books are available at the Outfitter society. The "Advanced" books are drops and you will have to find or buy them.

There is an excellent crafting guide on the SoE website. There is also an advanced guide there linked in that basic one. EQ2Traders has guides as well.

All you need to do is find the Outfitter Society and speak to the person outside.

Ok, since this was brought up. I belong to the Wayfarers Stockpilers, And from what you are saying that I am able to join one of the other societies. But, when I am trying to join one of the others to work on skills and get high level books, it always says you are not able to join(something along that line).

Would anyone be able to help me with this ?

There are two basic requirments.

1. You must be of the appropriate class for the workshop. To enter the Scholars workshop, you must be a Scholar. This means you have done your level 9 quest and made you first class choice.

2. (Not 100% sure) I dont belive you can join a Workshop/Wholesaler if your a memeber of another one. If you meet the above and can not get in, try leaving your old one.

Corison, Great tip.. But for some reason it is still not working for me. And since I am an Outfitter, I thought that I would be able to join with the outfitters, I guess I was wrong.

Check Society Listings, You may have joined another WorkShop on accident. You may have to leave the one your in now. If that does not work, try having both the Wholesaler and Workshop in the same zone.

I moved all my characters into Castview and did not run into any proublems, other then having to leave my old societies and lossing my progress there.

Corison, Well I am now the proud member of the Outfitters in
Willow Wood. And I don't think that me giving the guy at the
door 20sp had anything to do with it ;).

Thanks for the help.
