Random Acts of Kindness & TwinkageFollow

Anyone else out there performing random acts of kindness and twinkage???

I was working on my Weaponsmithing Tradeskills yesterday (I luckily had MLK Day off) and during the process of making the various recipes I ended up with a couple of "failures" (Shaped & Crude). While these aren't good for much except vendor fodder I still figured they would be ok to newbies in IoR...

First let me say I have a Priest 6th on the Isle of Refuge... I keep him there for assisting new guildies...

I gave a level 6 warrior a Shaped Forged Iron Greatsword... He said he could use it and I grouped with him for awhile... in the hands of a newbie that weapon kicked butt!
It was alot better than the Tin Tulwar you can buy there...
I also think I have found a decent market for my Pristine Tanned Leather Backpacks...

As I posted in my earlier comments about needing a Container/Token Vendor I couldn't find a market... But I was able to sell both of the spare packs on the IoR for 5sp so fast I thought I was going to be mobbed... I did say first come, first served... One guy intentionally got himself killed to get back to the bank first... ;~)

Just curious if there are other people out there with a open hand as well?

I more get suckered into big wastes of time helping people w/ quests. "Only a few more mobs to kill and my FP to Q betrayal is finished!" But he has to go talk to npc after npcs betwen the fights... sheesh. Yeah, I sometimes give gear away. You think that sword helps, give an app 4 Lightning Burst through the share bank to a newbie mage on IoR. It's murder.

Gnomes...

Someone has successfully done an App IV Lightning Burst???

I thought it was bugged...
I haven't been able to surpass the App III level yet... and its a Level 1 or 2 Trivial...

If someone has, Mazel Tov!!!!! I bow to your greatness...
(I'm not worthy??? hehehhehe)

Well I didn't perform the act of kindness but instead it was performed on me.

Roan and Derek/Waulker (his two chars) BOTH helped me get started, both gave me money, and BOTH gave me items. They talked me through the basics and are really great friends. I am truely impressed at these fellas for helping me even though I know nothing and I owe them greatly.

Thank you, you two!

I was able to purchase an App IV Lightning Burst, so I guess they are possible to craft. But I haven't really been paying attention to how many are available on the broker. I haven't really been playing much lately. :/

I help whenever the opportunity arises. Just the other day, a little ratonga asked me to help kill a mob for him in the sewers. When we got down to the mob, We realized that I was too high for the mob, and it wouldn't have counted. Realizing that he was new to the game, I inspected him and saw that he could use a little help. I gave him 50 silver to start off with, equipped him with new weapons, and gave him a little advice. Later on that day he sent me a tell rejoicing of his victory over the mob he had been so toilessly working after all day. Made my day better =).

Awesome job Steel!

It's people like you who make the game better and fun for others to enjoy in those beginning phases.

Goodjob!

on this subject i really do miss the ability to do drive by buffing and sows i used to hand them out to everyone for free on luclin because i hated seeing people charge for buffs i really miss being able to just go by buffing and sowing everyone i came across to make there adventuring day a little better allthough i know they did it to keep people from selling buffs it still was nice to see a newbie dying and hit him with heal and regen and buffs to see him turn the battle to his advantage but i am retired from eq1 now and i still LOVE eq2 have 4 mains instead of 1 this time i play each one 4 lvls at a time keeps it interesting and different being as they are each a different archtype

Ninja SoW! I used to love SoWing folks in EQ1 when they weren't expecting it. Sad that we can't help folks with heals, non-group buffs, etc., as much now because of the locked encounters/have-to-group crap. Of course, SoW sucks in EQ2, so not much point there anyway.

Now that appIV is out, most people dont want to buy app3. So, if I mess up making a scroll (rare, but it happens), then I will give away the resulting app3. I usually dont do this on any higher than tier 3 though, as they start to get too expensive at higher lvls, and a Tier 4 App3 can still go for 1gp or so.

LOL... my nickname in my EQ1 guild was Santa Twink because I spent so much time in the Baz making money and buying stuff cheap I always had to clear bank slots. I used to sit outside of the gates of Qeynos and Surefall and hail newbies to give them stuff. They would always act so surprised... especially the ones who never before played. Struggling to kill a spider and suddently being able to walk through yellow and orange cons!

This is the new way to help out others. Since we can't buff up strangers, we have to help them out with quests and battles.

I kind of hated the way everyone got all buffed and soloed in EQ1. I am not a solo kind of person, but since no one under lvl 50 grouped anymore, I was forced to solo my alts (when I wasn't able to find a group with my main).

So, I can kind of see why SoE did this.
