Earning a gold...help? : /Follow

#1 Jan 18 2005 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
Hey, I just finished killed the NPC's for betrayal...but I screwed up with answering the questions...and now I owe a gold to Matthias. How the heck do I come up w/ a gold without a house to sell in?? I mean it was pretty easy in EQ I...but in EQ II the most i've had is half a gold. Now I have 23 silver...any ideas about how I can raise a gold just wandering through the commonlands? Yeesh, and i thought waiting 3 hrs for the NPCS to spawn was bad...any help is greatly appreciated. Thankies

You could advertise your wares in the Commonlands themselves. Perhaps gather things then sell things at a slightly discounted rate to get people more intrested. Either that, or just slaughter lots of things then sell to merchants. Getting a gold at level 28 isn't THAT hard, but I remember when I was 15, a gold was out of sight...

Oh yeah, another solution may be to create an alt and use a trusted friend to transfer the goods to that second character (who would have a house.) That would allow you to sell things from an alt, on the market, then use the same friend to transfer the money back to your main.

Good luck!

If the character is of the same alignment he can used shared bank slots. Then on the new alt, while in his inn room, set access to trusted for the name of the primary character. Voila, you now share an appartment with your alt, full access for both.

Lol, wow...didn't think of either of those! But...how would I get to a banker? Sneak past the guards? I do have sneak, but some of those guards are red level, it would be a bumpy ride. I'll probably try for the first one...I think I have a friend who just might do that for me..and I obviously don't mind making a new alt *gets all giddy*. Thanks a bunch for replies guys :)

Some players built up small fortunes in the first month of the game when an exploit was available - it made selling foraged stuff really, really lucrative. Other rich players get that way through intelligent tradeskilling. They ask around and figure out what sells - then they make that and sell it. A lot of these rich players really work on the tradeskill side and play up several chars who support each other. GL

another thing you could try is just harvest like mad, destroy all regular garbage, an pray, after about a day of pure harvestin almost everything you see in CL or Ant you should have a rare unless extreamly unlucky. then jus toss up an /ooc offering it for a decent price or say send /t with best offer, if u put coral or silver for like 5g(price on Oggok about 10-12g) it would prolly sell in seconds, and if your lucky u might get 2-3 people that will bid on it uppin how much your askin for. there are also like sisal roots, non-sullied pelts, and blackened iron to be had, but those dont really sell for asmuch or aswell it seems on oggok atleast

it was a damn shame they took that out too, you could call it an exploit if you want to. i looked at it more as a market stabilizer myself helped keep a price check on harvested materials. cuz i tell yah it makes me sick now days look at the market for say pelts jus for example and see'g people selling sullied avg pelts for 1-2c. sellings rescources usta be some ok money till they took that so called exploit out. its sad tho, on oggok i have seen tier 4 harvestables going for 50c at times, at that price only reason i even harvest anymore is on the off chance i might get a rare. personally i would destroy my goods b4 i sold them to another player at that price. cuz it sure the hell isn't like they gonna discount their end product jus cuz they saved some

I don't understand how a level 21 can only have 2 silver. Im by far anything but rich but I make at least 30 silver a day just selling reptile meats, chest drops, etc. Killing 2 mobs in TS (which is soloable at 21) can give you 3 silver easily.

Waste nothing. I keep everything I forage and I forage everything I see. I created a few alts to store the stuff and stocked them all with strongboxes for more room. Make sure you sell every night while asleep or day while at work. I'm amazed at the prices I get for commonly foraged stuff.

Learn to tradeskill. All that foraging makes it easy as you only have to buy fuels, nothing else. Foodstuffs and drinks sell easily and well.

Do the wholesaler and workshop tasks. They pay steadily and well, as well as provide access to more goods as your status increases.

If you use all the elements of the system you start to see how well integrated EQ2 is and how its all interdependent. Some players find this a bit stifling compared to the relative "freedom" of EQ1 but if you are patient and focused you can turn it to your advantage.

Last week I made 9 gold moving my toon from 13 to 16 adventure level and 11 to 14 tradeskill level. I feel rich when I consider how I used to scratch around for 1 silver at earlier levels....but, most of all....i'm enjoying just doing it....the gold is a form of recognition...but the fun is the reward.

and another thing....lol....
Be independent. I decided I would only spend money on stuff that I absolutely couldn't make or steal for myself. All my alts have different tradeskills and make what is required for each other.
I'm not sure if there is a jewish subclass of iksar, but, if so, I qualify for honorary (of course...why would I pay for it...) membership.

Thats always an idea so far I have goten 9 rares and 4 of those I got in 1 hour in Nek so you can do that, almost no one harvests in CL anyhow at least there are tons of windswept rocks to go after :) Good luck :)

I can't imagine anyone over lvl 22 having a problem making at least 15 to 25 silver per hour. All you have to do is play and kill things. No crafting or gathering involved. Heres the catch, to get coin you have to earn it. i.e. use some elbow grease. Coin, Xp, items are not going to just magically pop into your inventory. Go out there and explore and do some generalized questing and slaughtering.

There you go...that was my 50 cents.(approx. what SoE charges per day for EQ2).

Yeah once you get to thundering steppes you cant really even breathe without getting 5 silver caught in your nostrils.

Sure you arent exagerating :)
