Dual wield....what does it mean?Follow

#1 Jan 18 2005 at 6:40 AM Rating: Decent
I thought dual wield allowed you to have a weapon in each hand.
I have a level 9 fighter (the fabulous Fervent!)and I tried to equip him with two dual wield weapons (orcblood axe and blorts painted cutter) but he will only accept one weapon into the primary slot. Both weapons are marked for primary or secondary but neither will go into the secondary. I'm qualified for both....what am I doing wrong?

It's possible that while you are able to equip the weapons as 1 handed you are not high enough equip them duel wield style, the skills in EQ2 are very vague.

to my knowledge no weapons are labeled "Primary and Secondary". They are either labeled primary, secondary, or dual wield. In order to dual wield you must have two dual wield weapons. Also, you must subclass into warrior before you will be able to do it.

In fact, it appears that weapons which have "Wield Style" as Dual Wield are labelled Slot: Primary
Secondary

Thanks for the tip on Dual Wield only being available at Warrior status though.....that clears up the mystery...ta guys.

Maybe for fighter types you have to sub-class to Warrior, but all Scouts have Dual Wield. Thats what makes us so cool Smiley: lol

Yeah scouts get dual also, but to me dualing a battle axe and a mace is a lot more intimidating than a couple of puny daggers :)

ifin, once you turn level 10, I think the best thing I've seen to dual is a spear that most merchants sell. Iron Tribal Spear maybe? I believe that is what I used at level 10 just for fun, but actually at the lower levels two handers are better dps, at least until level 15 or so. When you can use a couple blackened iron flails try those, they are pretty nice for their level.

Yah, but I'd rather be able to solo most things on the IoR than duel wield some tin weapons. :P For the life of me I can't seem to kill that shadow serpent or whatever it's called. Green double up arrows. Even WITH the sneak attack (ambush I think it's called?). I need to be more sneaky sneaky I guess.

At 16 and you're based in Qeynos, go for the Balance of Life quest (doable at 14~15). The Willow Wood Hunting Blade is pretty good. And if you can buy another from the broker, the stats combined are pretty crazy. You actually have a selection, so you can choose whichever type you want, too.

I dual wield on IoR and I can kill Shadow Serpent and even Bladefin (though I'll admit I finish with low hp)

=) You just have to know how to wheel around and do a sneak attack. Way I do things is I open with Ambush > Open HO > Evasion > Close HO > Open HO > stun attack > move behind sneak attack > close HO and pray I can melee the rest of it to death b4 it kills me :p
