All I want to know, is who out there is running (or trying to run) EQ2 on a laptop?

Are any laptops up to the challenge?

If you have a Pentium 4 "M" processor and a really frikkin nice card you could probably play it OK.... i don't know if any laptops come equipped with 1 gig ram though. so youll need settings on low or the swap will be too harsh

My friend plays on his gateway laptop just fine. He reduces the textures to low tho, but it runs very very smoothly, and does not experience the mem leak issue even with 512 ram. I'll get a hold of my friend to get specs.

There are a few out there that will do it. Your main issue with a laptop is finding one that actually has a decent GPU in it... most of them come with shared memory intel junk.

Here's one that'll do it (obviously after the memory upgrades)

If you have the ton of money for it. :)

The Dell XPS would too...

Hi,
Just wanted to comment on the subject topic.
I currently play EQ2 on my laptop and it works great.
I am running on a P4 3.4 Ghz system with a ATI 9700 Graphics
card. System memory is 1 gig with 80 gig HD. As long as
you have a decent system it works pretty well.

I just bought a Dell 5160 Laptop about 2 hours ago.
*crosses fingers* Please work with EQ2!!

It has:
P4 2.8 ghz
512 RAM
64 Meg Nvidia Go 5200 Video
30 gig HD

It should work with EQ2, but we'll soon see. Am I right in assuming that the "Go" series of Nvidia cards are comparable to the FX series? I bet the Go 5200 is just a mobile version of the FX5200. As I recall the FX cards will run EQ2. Right?

Supported Video Cards

Judging from the list, you should be good to go.

I run EQ2 on an AlienWare Area 51 with 2 gig RAM and it's smooth as a box of frogs. Can't recommend their gear enough - you get what you pay for, and it's nearly as upgradeable as a desktop (it replaced my esktop completely). Mind you, I wouldn't call it 'lightweight'!

BTW, on a wireless network I can play lag-free, in windowed mode, with Alla or GamerGod in the background - it's truly excellent :)

Dell Inspiron 9100 with 1Gb Ram works a treat for me. I rather use my 'lappy' than my desktop currently.
