wanting to tradeskill but....Follow
Wanting to do some tradeskills but no matter what machine I use I have no way to do combines (well other then that spike I made on rufuge island). Anyways I was told on-line you gotta buy some books that give you the recipes, but I have yet to find a merchant in the Qeynos area that has any? Also do you have to be a artison to make stuff, or does it just help?

All characters can be artisans. It's not a seperate class.
The recipe books are sold by the merchant in the tradeskill instance. Not the one behind the desk. If you're good, it's the merchant downstairs. And if you're evil, it's the merchant upstairs.
Once you buy and scribe a new recipe book, you'll get new recipes. But only buy the book that corrosponds to your level. If you're a level 3 artisan, buy the level 3 book, and when you get to level 4, you'll get the level 4 book, and so on (sorry if that was obvious, lol)
Also, make sure you have the right components. Also, sorry if this is obvious, but you were a bit vague in your post.

i find it much easier to raise your artisan to lvl 9+ (cant get to 10 but still gain exp) on the IoR.
You can get some decant loot killing the named mobs to sell for basic things like fuel, and artisan books (sold at all the merchants, lvls 3-8) and with them you can make a larg number of things, including new armors, weapons, boxes (for bank) and some weight reduction bags among many other things.
You can also make some APP3 skills (i know that for scout and priest you can make the app3 for all thier starting skills, the ones you get up to lvl 6)
There are also plenty of places to harvest for the materials. the only thing you really need to buy is fuels.
