Monk vs BruiserFollow

#1 Jan 17 2005 at 1:42 PM Rating: Decent
Can anyone simply state the main difference(s) between the two, other than the obvious good & evil. I am just curious as I want to make mule, but will probably eventually play him and want to know where or not to make a good or evil (I don't want to have to betray).

One thing to remember is that you can not share bank slots between good and evil characters, so if you are making a mule you should stick with the same allignment you have with your main.

Can't answere the rest of your question :)

Thanks Delvik, I didn't know that. I would still like to know the difference if anyone knows.

Is one better at offensive and one better at defense? Is one better at taunting/aggro management? Is one better at stunning? Is one better at interrupting? Is one better at AoE?

You can go to the guides section and look at the post that has all the spells and abilities - and compare them. Not sure that will help, though.

I'll tell you this, SoE worked overtime to 'balance' the classes and game - so I doubt there is much in the way of a meaningful difference.

I wouldn't breeze over the good or evil thing. We started in FP - we are evil gnomes after all - but we couldn't stand it. FP's version of evil is "make everything the color of mud" and have everyone "talk down at you like a low-level PizzaHut manager yelling at some 14 year old who just dropped the cheese for the 23d time" - it's sort of a dreary, low-rent evil - a really depressing evil - an uninspired "you're back in Junior High School" sort of evil - yeah... that's it - FP is my junior high schoool - brrrrrr. Too evil. So we deciced to become EvilGnomes but ones who live w/ the goody goodies. The "otherhand" is that some npcs in Q are so syrupy sweet you wanna hit em. It drives us nuts, too. Oh for a neutral city...

If sony tried so hard to balance the classes, then why the hell do you have to be good align in order to have bow skills. Rangers are the only ones who get good range skills.

i have a 31 Bruiser and i know alot of Monks as they seem to be a much popular class. I prolly woulda gone Monk myself but i HAD to be Iksar and i'm too lazy to do betrayl so Bruiser it was !
Main difference as i see it is that Bruiser has alot of offense and stun skills and is more high dmg hitting oriented. The bruiser kills thru stuns and speed.
Monks contrary to bruisers are oriented to avoidance and counter hits. They kill in a sense by being leaner, smarter, and more tactful than the opponent. The Monk also recieve an ability to sneak similiar to scouts, kind of a ghetto invis.
Both classes recieve the ability to feign death to mobs no more than 2 levels higher than thenselve with a high sucess probability. And both have what i think are some of the coolest attack styles in the game.
IMHO the advantages / disadvantages of the classes when put against one another balance very nicely and i truley believe it boils down to your style of exactly how you like to pummel your oppenet and if you prefer good or evil or a specific race.

I hope this helps those of you looking into the bruiser / monk classes.

I would have to agree with the previous poster. The difference between the two is so minimal that it's kinda silly to really worry about. As stated, the bruiser is a bit more damage orientated where as the monk is a bit more adept at avoiding damage. Neither one is often looked to to be a main tank so I wouldn't worry to much about that. Both deal the highest amount of dps for the fighter subclasses and are capable tanks.
