Fighting TacticFollow

Does this sound like the way your supposed to fight here in EQ2:

Job: Scout Level: 6 Race: Half Elf

I see a target (I generally go for blue/white) [I've read that the cursor indicator color states the mobs 'rate' to you]

anyway, I just click once on the mob, get behind it, hit sneak attack, I then do cheap shot cause I'm thinking it does some extra hit or something, then I hit Quick attack, all right after the next.

I haven't died yet which is pretty awesome...just trying to see if my tactics are correct for whenever I get into a party.

For now that's fine, except use Heroic Opportunities (HOs).

Start the fight w/ the flank attack one (sneak attack I think) - use stealth mode to get behind hostile mobs - if fighting ones that don't attack u on sight just walk up behind them normally.

Once the fight starts hit your HO starter (lucky break?). Then hit Evade to advance the chain, then quick attack. That finishes the HO, does extra damage, and sometimes buffs you. Do that as often as you can. You can kill yellows, maybe oranges - and green ^^ mobs (says "group" but there is only one of em).

Upgrade your abilities asap. Buy apprentice 2 from "trainer" in your town and scribe them. Now they hit harder. Do more damage. Players make even better versions. App 3 and App 4. Adept lvl 1 upgrades are even better and drop of monsters (chests). Adept lvl 3s are insanely rare (made from really rare mined items) and sell for 15 gold each and up! Mastery - dropped by monsters in chests - super insanely rare. Cost even more. At least get app 2 for the ones you use a lot. Try to get App 4 or Adept 1 for the ones you use over and over - join a tradeskill society in your home town - these are the little hatches in the ground - talk to the npcs by them til u find the one u can join - say yes - enter - find the broker - search - see what players are charging for what u need. Scouts use "Runes" as upgrades - aren't always a ton of those for sale. U can go into antonica/commons and /auction that u are buyin em, too. You may need to work at this, it might not come easy.

Also get poison. Look around and find a poison seller. Try to get poison - wait, this is lvl 10 and up. At that point get poison, "equip" it then "use" it. Try to get it your lvl - like white or yellow to u - not green. Oh poisons are all different - and go by colors - this is gettin confusing - not the "how does it con to you color code" - but just colors to show different tyes. Purple is probably the best poison. Buy a purple poison that cons yellow or so to u - that's good. It procs damage as u fight - lasts many hours - it's very good.

In groups you just max out your damage and Evade when the mob gets on you (makes it go back to the tank).

If the group is doing HOs you need to learn your part. Search for other posts on this.

Once you get the one that stuns your target, u can use that to get in a second flank or backstab.

Once you get backstab try making a macro w/ both backstab and sneak attack. W/ the macro's speed it might be possible to get em both off before the target turns on you (there is a slight delay before it turns). Give it a try anyway, i've read some scouts saying it works. It may not.

Remember the scout can change the HO effect with a "coin" ability (do rt click and examine to see the secondary icons for HO purposes). Er, you can cancel the first wheel and get a shot at a better one. This is pretty advanced stuff, so don't feel bad if you don't get it right away. I'll post a good link for you on HOs, but basically if the group is really good - you as the scout can blot out gimped HO effects and get more killer effects for the group - like really huge damage hits. Or group heals. Etc.

Haha awesome information, thank you so much.

Yeah tonight (before reading this post, sorry hehe) I happened to click lucky break, then saw these other two things glowing Evade and Cheap Shot, so I clicked one 'Evade' then Quick Strike lit up after that.

I then go into the groove of doing lucky break, evade/cheap shot and then quick strike, which in the end I got this blue glow over me and said I learned this Heroic thingy, it was in my spell list, agh I forget the name (which is sad) something charm I wanna say. Sounded like someones name.

I'll take a peek at that link, thanks again for your reply. ^^

NP, GL. Note, you can see - look up if you are fighting something big - the extra damage numbers in the air over your target as the HO goes off. It's a good amount and well worth it.

I have a quick question, is there a certain time to click the next ability that 'chains' with the other to perform the HO..

Like do I do one wait 3, then the other do that one wait 3 etc;

or can it just be bam bam bam!

The correct time to execute the next link in your HO chain is as soon as possible!!!

Cheap shot is a stun that lasts for just a few seconds. However, if the enemy is hit while it is stunned, the stun breaks. When you're soloing, use cheap shot to stun the mob, then quickly run to its back or side and use a flanking/back attack like sneak attack. Usually, I turn off attack right before I use cheap shot, so that I don't accidentally hit the mob and break stun. It takes some practice, but this technique will do a good amount of damage once you get it to work right.

Awesome Lierta,

That's sounds like a great technique. How would you go about taking attack off? I love using the sneak attack in the beginning, so much fun!

I've been doing HO's everytime now. With Scout anyways, there is one to the left of Lucky break; evade..that I can use Quick Attack with then immediately after that just about I can do cheap shot, then quick attack again, I look so cool!! lol

Assuming you've let the game set up your hot keys so far, your Melee Attack command should be hotkeyed as "2".

Lierta,

Yes I haven't assigned any keys or anything. Thank you! =D
