Differences between EQ and EQIIFollow

I was just wondering just how much difference is there between the first game and this one. And don't say the graphics, cause I can tell that just from the screenshots. How tedious is the grind, if at all. Is there more story, are classes better balanced, etc...

Basically, I'm wondering if it worth playing both games at the same time without feeling like I'm playing the same game, only with better graphics.

Just looking for some insight, thanks.

There is very little similarity. I'd recommend you read the comparison thread on the EQ Forum.

Casual observation is that very few people are actively playing both games. A lot have left EQ altogether for EQ2. A small number have tried EQ2 and gone back to EQ.

They are very different games.

WoW game play is far closer to that of EQLive than EQ2's game play. The only thing that EQ and EQ2 have in common is lore, and the world that you play in (and even that is so different that you'd have trouble recognizing a lot of it).

It's a fun game, but it's not for everyone.
