I guess the reason I decided to post this is because I have been completely turned off of forums by the posts that are made here.

First of all, just so we have the record straight, I love this game. I love everything about it. I play on one of the RP servers, and I couldn't be happier each time I log in.

From time to time I come here to check the forums for good discussions about the games future, content, etc.. However, lately every thread that I've seen has been nothing but bashing SOE, EQ2, other players, and everything else that sticks it's head out of the safety box.

I just wish I could somehow convey to you all the wonderful experiences that this game gives me, alas I cannot put them into words.

I hope that someone reads this and thinks to themselves, "You know, maybe SOE didn't ***** up THAT bad," because there are players like me who think that SOE has done something great here.

With all of that I have decided to quit.....not the game, but forums. They are the most depressing thing in the world. Exception, this thread. I hope to see someone who shares my love for this game post here.

Begin flaming now.

Not flaming at all - and since you have left the forums you won't see it anyway Smiley: smile - but you're missing the obvious.

Liking the game is a given here (with certain few exceptions). We all like it or we'd stop playing. It is because we like it that we argue and disect the things that are not yet right. A forum full of people just posting "It's great isn't it", "yeah wonderful" etc, etc... would not be either likely or interesting.

And you miss the point that you are not playing a single player game, it is a MMOG. If people are unhappy with some aspect or other that should be of interest - even if you are perfectly happy with it. What the people around you, possibly even the people you group with, think of the game concerns you. This forum and others like it is where in-game mores are worked out. With a few exceptions I think people now respect nodes which are already being harvested. That consensus was reached on many, many threads where the opinions of players were sounded.

And I see a lot of helpful and informative posting here. That is the true value of the forum. People are very willing to share info they have found and throw links to you to help you out.

This is one of the things I like to see in a forum. It just seems that lately every post is pretty much hate mail. I'm just tired of people saying how everything in the game is screwed up when they are here in the forums, and then immediately log into the game for 5 hours straight.

I'm not talking about bugs and the like here. Discussing that sort of thing is fine by me. It just depresses me when I had a great Roleplaying experience and I log in to check and see how everyone else is doing and I see, "EQ2 should have left X in from EQ1," or, "I wish I had not gotten the six month pass."

I respect everyones right to say what's on their mind, I really do. I have just lost faith in the general optimism that used to be a part of Our World.

I also cannot stand the Trolls who come in here just to tell us how much this game stinks compared to Game X or Game Y. If you like those games better, talk to the people who agree with you.....in THAT GAMES forum.

For the record, I'm one of the people who love the idea of Adventure Packs, is giddy that I get 8 Character slots, EQ1, and SWG, all for 22 dollars per month, and is elated by the fact that there are 2 expansions planned per year. I love the crafting system, as is. I love the guild system. As a matter of fact the only real developmental issue that I have with this game is that there is no PvP element whatsoever, and even that isn't a big enough issue for me to have even mentioned here as I have never participated in that aspect of any of these games anyway.

Well, as you can tell my main complaint is that there is more complaining on the forums than there is good info/real suggestions (that have truly been thought out), and yet here I am adding my own lengthy complaint in a most hypocritical fashion. I'll watch this thread for something that may inspire me to continue to sift through the garbage to find the few rays of sunshine here at allakhazam.

I agree there is alot of useful information, as well as alot of whining, but the thing is- it is very easy to skip over the posts that you don't want to read.

If you think about it your complaing about this forum is similiar to someone who complains about the game. What's your thoughts when someone says they are leaving the game? I'm not trying to flame, really.

I'm inclined to agree.

The vast majority of us Alla folks do love the game. You might not know it with all our whinning, but we really do. Otherwise I'd be playing Half-life 2 all day instead of EQ2.

I spose thats what people do when they love something-- they **** and moan about it all day long. Makes sense, right?

Generally people only want to talk about things that bother them. They tend to keep quiet about the things they like. Human nature, I suppose. Also, the happy people are usually playing the game and not reading forums, lol.

Reminds me of a sign that used to be over the kitchen door at this restaurant I worked at: A happy customer tells 5 people, an unhappy customer tells 25 people. Or something to that effect.

I really enjoy this game. But I don't post about it.

I'm not sure what you are really posting about. The General Forum seems dead to me. Not many people posting. It feels like a graveyard of what it used to be. I used to see posts added so fast that your post on a quest would be on page 2 if you blinked. Now it seems that you get the odd post every once in a while.

As to the game, I have posted many times saying how much I liked it and how much fun I was having. That I was able to solo this mob with my Fury or that I loved this and that. I then found little things that I didn't like about the Fury so I came here to vent to others that enjoyed this game. I knew the developers didn't have time to listen to me say them so I come here. Do I want sympathy, flames, agreement or indifference? Maybe there's something I missed and someone can help me with my 'problem' that isn't one.

Believe me, the only reasons I come here to complain is because I like EQII. I really do like it. But it has changed so much from release that I don't feel like I am playing the same game. Maybe they can explain to me or tell us what they plan for the game. How the game is SUPPOSED to be and what they designed. The fact that the game was released and is 95% of their Vision is what bothers me. That means things I will like today are either bugs or not implemented correctly. Why was the game rushed out? Did they test other games releasing around the same time and think they needed the extra months?

I am very disappointed with EQII at this time and its not because the game sucks, its because its starting to form into what it should have been. A Vision that the developers imagined that they are just beginning to implement. I feel I was tricked or cheated by being presented with an unfinished product. I know the game is going to change and would have updates but I expected mostly to be content with bug fixes here and there. It just seems that they change things... Sorry. This was your non whine thread.

I still have a 6 month subscription that I am not allowed to cancel. If in that time this game changes enough to what I originally liked, I will return and play 2 games. As it is now, I have no urge to play the game. I purchased another game and it is now taking up my full time. I used to enjoy EQII as much as I am enjoying this game.

If anyone is on Antonia Bayle and wants a sell bot, let me know. I won't charge a fee or anything but you have to be ready to take your money and give me new items to sell when I am online. My computer is powerful enough to run both games so I might as well use the account for something. I can turn EQII down to SUPER performance and without zoning the memory leak shouldn't be a problem. I have a whole 3 slots that I can use for either Qeynos or Freeport since I want to keep my Fury at level 27 (2 bubs from 28) just in case.

Right on, brotha Cobra!

Toco - right on as well! Preach on!

Hey original poster - I'm one of those evil Troll whiners you HATE! Smiley: tongue And like my brotha complainers are tellin ya, we're not all bad. Yeah, it gets like talk radio in here at times. And yeah, if you love all aspects of the game, it'd be a drag reading our posts - sorry - but SoE is basically torturing us - SoE is basically giving us *half* the experience we want - and the rest is either subpar or really poorly designed. Some of us come to EQ2 from mmo's where you literally felt like you were *flying* the tactics and variety of spells and combat options - it was so cool. This is so much the opposite. It is tactically dead. I was willing to be cool if they'd simply reigned it in a little, but no, they chained it down the floor and covered it with Qwikset concrete.

Let's get away from the word "whining", too. People get upset in mmo's. Someone comes in here all upset from a bad mmo experience, and then people jump all over him and label him a whiner - that's just pouring salt in the wound. It's cruel and blunt and belongs in Oggok.com, not here, imo. Whining is a label, a sophist trick at best - so please.

Well, yer right Toco - posting in here used to fly fast and furious. It still is over at wow... sheesh.
