Yes.

The launguage they speak is called "Smelly socks."

You can learn it by unlocking Oggok, the ancient Ogre city, and by discovering their fossilized discarded clothing heap. Right click the glowing sock. Choose the option "sniff it cautiously". You will be transported to an instanced zone, where the ghost of Clurg will mix a drink for you made of ancient Ogre undergarments. There is a fifty percent chance you will die permanently and lose your character for all time, so be careful. If you drink this and survive, you will understand scarecrow. Personally I don't think it's worth it. Once you can "understand" them, they sound like Jerry Lewis telling old Groucho Marx jokes. It's funny the first time but gets old really fast. Good luck! Tarv? Someone polymorphed you!

And listen, it's smelly socks. Just listen to them. That's what they are saying - smelly socks!

One more thing, it looks like someone rated me down seriously up there. Now, that's fine if I've gone Smiley: bah and been a jerk. I do that all the time.

But that was a joke. An attempt at humor. If you didn't get it, fine - the s-crows say "smelly socks" - no one knows why - but if you listen carefully you will hear it.

Now, I don't like getting rating hammered when I was just trying to joke around. It'd be nice if whoever did it would use this post to rate back up and even it out, please. Thanks much.

(bets on how many people lecture me "well you should have known the risk before making such a stupid, lousy joke blah blah blah" - and further, is there a cure for the bad case of lecturitis that's running rampant on this site???)

On second thought, forget it. If you wanna be that way, be that way. I don't care. Hell, have a contest. Put our rating into negative numbers - come on - see if you can. Sheesh, I gotta get a life back.

There is a fine line between spoof info and misinfo. Personally I don't think you crossed it and while Tarv's explanation is more likely you could still be right Smiley: smile. It's not as if some unsuspecting newbie is going to go to Ogguk and lose a shard (which would have happened in the old EQ).

It would be nice if someone who can "Bark like a Gnoll" could post to confirm or deny the Tarv Hypothesis.

There has been a spate of down-rating all over Alla boards recently. Evidently someone gets their jollies that way. Sad isn't it.

Just finished "Bark like a Gnoll" tonight, before whomping on Scarecrows. The languages are not the same. I'll keep everyone updated though because I'm desperately seeking out their language. It's become an obsession!
