Earlier this week I had a problem where my /station_images folder became corrupt and had to fix it. Now starting on 2 days ago the game just started completely shutting off with no warning, one second playing, next desktop.

Is anyone else having this problem? To try and fix it I unistalled it and am repatching it, but on dial up the download is going to take around 25 hours :(

How is the download going? Sounds harsh but I have not had a problem like that. Do you know what might have caused it to become corrupt? I can try to recreate it on my computer, as long as reinstalling fixes it. *gulp*

I know that in EQ1, if you were having problems that werent really explainable, deleting your cache folders and zone files, etc then running the update would fix it.

EQ checks for all your files integrity, so if it find missing files it will download the latest versions from SOE and update your game from there.

Otherwise, I would say contact SOE support, if they dont provide an answer or you get tired of waiting, try reinstalling your game.

The game just exiting, however sounds like either a video or audio problem. Try updating your video drivers, directX and audio drivers.

Also, an afterthought - it could also be your RAM. If it were your ram though, you might see lockups, or reboots outside of eq2 as well.

I have updated to 1 gig of RAM when I got it and just got the video card at the same time, but stupid me I should have downloaded the lastest drivers.

And yeah I used the delete the corrupt files and use the updated to reinstall them.

I'll check my audio drivers as well when I get home, because I did have a few problems with teh game locking up and making a hissing noise when I first got it, but after getting the new video card and RAM these problems just happened.

Thanks for making me think of the drivers, and I have no idea what caused the original corruption, Azernox. All of a sudden I just got a warning about corrupt files. Also I don't know how the downloading is going, I'm at work while I let it run. :p

How long ago did you upgrade the RAM? Was it just before you started experiencing these problems? If so, it might be the ram that is the culprit. Bad ram can cause wierd problems that you might not see until your computer tried to access particular sections of the new memory. If the driver updates don't work you might want to try removing the new memory and play for a while to see if you experience the same problems.

I have a P4 3.0 Ghz, 1 Gig PC3000 DDR RAM, SCSI HDD (320 xfer rate), Visiontek 9600XT video card with 256 Meg VRAM.

Was getting random lockups requiring a hard reset. Sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes an hour. You can just imagine how pissed a group would be when I disappear while fighting a nasty MOB!

Tried killing all but req'd processes, made sure had latest sound card and vid card drivers, etc. but nothing worked.

Even tried downgrading graphics selection to high performance in EQ2 options. Still locked up regularly.

Then the answer! Even though both my MB & video card support 8X AGP, downgrading it to 4X AGP fixed my problem completely.
Graphics and performance still rock and I don't even notice any diffrences.

I mean I can now have Outlook, Word, EQ2, YIM, whatever running all at the same time and have EQ2 setting to high quality and still works great with no lockups anymore!!

Try downgrading your AGP speed.
