hi all, first post!!!

im curently using a set of steel dagers that boots my AGI 4 each, im just wondering if i should look for a weapon that deals more damage and less stat boosts or should i stick with my bosts and deal with low damage>?

also is it better to duel wield or should i use a one handed weapon with a shield

Hail,

Well, my scout is only level 9 so far but I love dual wielding. I think that gains more DPS.

I was using a Pristine Forged Carbonite battle Axe and a shield. Sometimes the extra defense is useful.

I recently switched to dual wielding a Giant Pickaxe and a pristine forged carbonite crescent axe. The stats on those links are wrong by the way. Must be beta data or something.

Anyway I chose the crescent axes (giant pick has same graphic) for their looks as much as anything but the damage does seem higher. One day I'll write a parser to find out.

In the end you can make almost anything work for you if you realy enjoy the look.

I realy suggest useing Duel Weild and a couple fast weapons, Rapiers for example with a high damage DD poison. This gives your poison a chance to proc twice every 1.2 secounds or so. You can also duel weiled with slower weapons, but pick your poison with a longer DOT.

Personaly, I use my bow A LOT! It is by far and away my primary weapon in groups or solo. I keep two bows on hand, one Long Bow for range and a heavy initial hit that I use with a long duration poison. In addition I have a Short Bow with a higher damage DD Poison but shorter proc, good for group fights.

Personally, I dual wield the Giant Pick Axe for slashing and Dagger of Cleansing (dont know actual name-from Cleansing of Firemyst Gully quest) for piercing. I find the piercing weapon is more effective with the Pierce and similar combat abilities. The dagger also has a proc against undead. Funny thing is I've seen my bow proc when the dagger was equipped. Im currently using the Ranger class reward bow, and as far as I know it doesnt have a proc to it.

I've been using that combat parcer that SoE made (I'm at work and don't have the link for it) and have found that my best DPS ratings seem to come from Orange/Yellow weapons in the 1.4-1.6 delay range. These usually outdamage both slower, and faster weapons over the course of a fight by about 6-10%.

Currently I'm using a Feysteel Epee, and a Feysteel stiletto (but have a feysteel short sword for slashing work). These weapons seem to be the best for my level (33 Ranger) for damage output period.

Of course duel wielding and using poisons is the way to go. I would suggest working on both Slashing and Piercing skills, as at lvl 40+ a lot of peeps use Serrated Bone Dirks, Short Swords of the Ykesha, and Polished Granite Tomohawks.

howdy folks, my first post here also!

Good advice here, I'm a scout level 7....I was wondering about the duel weapon and looks like I'll be going that route in the future, thx for the posts!

Currently 28 ranger using
Feysteel ornate spear 12-36 @ 2.3s (5.2 - 15.7)
Mithril hand axe 7-22 @1.4s (5 - 15.7)
and ranged:
One-eyed bow 32-160 7.0s (4.6 - 22.9)

These are the best weapons ive found at fair prices on the market.

Someone was selling a 17.5/s damage whip for 2p - not the best value for money and also seen the Stormfire bow for 20g.

Sorely tempted to splash out on the bow cos it increases my ranged dps by half, but its just too much. Does anyone know if this bow is available by quest?

You should be able to do the quest in Zek for the Sureshot bow in a few levels so I would hold tight and save your money if I were you.

I'd also suggest (and this is just a suggestion) to get a faster weapon to replace your spear. While the damage is impressive on it, if you parce out your DPS, you'll find higher, consistant damage from something not quite as slow. I'd look for something no higher than 1.6 in the delay catagorie.

So the general advice is to get dual wielding fast weapons rather than stock up on stats yeah? Sorry for the crap question but no one's really said "do this.."

Yes, my preference is for a pair of very fast dual wield weapons.

The reason is regardless of how much, (or how little), damage you do with each swing, the more times you swing in a minute, the more chances you have for poison and weapon procs to go off and that will bump up your dmg total a significant amount.

At lvl 24, I am swinging a fast T3 imbued weapon in each hand, (Pristine Imbued Carbonite Falchion & Pristine Imbued Carbonite Rapier), and at least one of them seems to proc during every fight.

Add in those frequent poison procs and I end up doing way more damage with the bonus then I am with the meager damage from the weapon itself.
