Hullo all!

I am about to install everquest and I have just got done reading the Descriptions of the class's in the players guide and still can't make up my mind. Would ya'll mind giving me some pro's and con's versus each of the class's so that I might finally be able to come to a desicion?

Thanks!

Us EvilGnomes play a sorcerer/summoner team. At times I solo as the sorc ... and I die a lot. If you plan to solo as a Sorc it's going to be frustrating. It goes best when I root and DoT (damage over time like static pulse - it doesn't break root as often as direct damage or DD spells). But root doesn't always hold, and once a big nasty mob gets on you, you can die fast.

With the pet it's a whole different game (the Summoner gets pets). Get the pet-oriented upgrade at lvl 10 and 20 - the specialized training thing - and your pet either taunts or does something to help it keep the mob's agro (keep the mob hitting it). Start of DoTing the target AFTEr the pet starts on it. Heal the pet if needed. Later in the fight start nuking and HOing.

A sorc (who becomes a Wiz or Warlock) is in most cases much more desirable to a group at higher levels. But you will need to find good teams to get up there. And at low levels it can be hard to get good groups. If you plan to solo a lot, Summoners are really good at it. Sorcs have serous trouble soloing imo - i can do it, but it is harrowing - and if a fight goes bad it can be hard to get out of it (like in old EQ before I could twink a wiz character w/ SoW potions heheheh). Sometimes I sprint and run at half mana, but they've put a DoT on me... and I just die anyway.

I managed to solo to 20 as a Sorcerer with minimal problems. It's a matter of having properly updated spells (Blaze, Freezing Whorl, Ice Spike, Static Pulse, and Arcane Bindings), and knowing how to Root, Stack your DoT's and then nuke the hell out of the mob. I've got it down to a pretty good system.

I know that a lot of people like being a Summoener, but I hated it. I'm just not good with pets, I guess. I prefer the more direct tactics used by Sorcerers and Wizards. :)

Soloing after 23 as a Wizard got alot more difficult for me.
Soloing as a Conjuror seems to be alot easier, especialy since they added the new pet at level 20(the hero one, can't remember exact name).

Tellurian, I thought. Isn't that what all of the pets are called? I don't actually know, though.

yes it's the hero one, but my Adept 1 spider is slightly better.. the two seem to tank somewhat equally but the spider appears to have more HP or higher AC because it will come out of fights with far less damage (if any at all) against white con and down...

perhaps the hero tell~ summon gets better with time.. only 21st level right now so I can't say yet.
