Grouping with folks on the other side of zoneFollow

Strategy question:
Is there any good reason to invite someone into a group when they are still a fair distance away from the rest of the group, and have to make a long run through dangerous territory to reach the group? How many times have you heard, "Well, we grouped with Soandso and as he ran to catch up with us he died and we all got debt"? I had an absolutely horrible pick-up group encounter last night (I know, pick up groups often suck but when you're not guilded you do what you gotta do). Nice folks, but one dude was invited when still at zone-in and while making his way to us he aggro'ed and we wiped ugly (and believe me the evening only got worse from there). So, why invite someone when there's a very real possibility that something like this will occur? Is there a strategy to the long-distance invite, am I missing something here?

There is no point inviting someone from far away, unless you need to get their location by means of waypoint. However, I urge everyone to explore any zone they want to lv in, learn the names of landmarks, do the "Tour of <zone>". This will help the problem as you can tell a potential group member to meet you at <landmark> or <direction> of <landmark>. They have made EQ2 so that a group is not a casual thing to get into, and the only reason why you should be in a group is if you are right there and are going to start killing things. There are other reasons to be in a group such as forced greying of mobs by a high lv to help with aggro avoidance when traversing dangerous areas. However, this is not a normal exp situation.

In conclusion, there is no reason to invite a person when they are far away. Tell them a landmark you are near and have them go there, THEN invite them and have them waypoint to you. This will save "travel debt" and if they do get aggroed on the short distance, the group is still close and can possibly kill the aggro. I think this would lead to more productive grouping.

Last night I was grouping with my guildies and some other players. while I was on my way to the meeting location I got mobs spawned at me and agroed. It was a named with 2 up arrows orange so needless to say I got killed. But fortunately I managed to leave the group before I died so nobody else expect me got debt, then when I revived I got reinvite again. I think if this ever happened, these people should leave the group (if possible) before they got killed.
