Which Priest class for this situation?Follow

#1 Jan 10 2005 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
A friend and I are going to start an Assassin/Healer team and he is going to be the Assassin. I was wondering which Priest Sub-class from Freeport would be best for this combo, I would like to get the best melee damage class that heals. I realise no Priest class will do great damage but just wanted some opinions on which would deal the most damage for what is available. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I am COMPLETELY biased, BUT:

Shaman...

They don't do anything EXCEPTIONALLY WELL, with the exception of BUFFS, they just do alot of things WELL =)

I would have to go with Kruqed on this one, really.

Speaking from a "Semi-Biased" perspective, I think a Defiler would make a great addition.

Not that any of the priest classes couldn't do a sufficent job. I have a Fury myself and am perfectly capable of keeping a single person alive, and nicely buffed while doing some nice damage.

However, I've recently started a shaman as well, he's only level 16 at the moment, but I've been duoing all the time with a Predator guildmate of mine and we've been tearing it up as a pair.

Shamans have a lot of useful spells. Keep in mind, each class could do a great job, just in different ways.

But if it were me, my "personal" preference would be Shaman -> Defiler.

I tried this combo with my brother. He went assasin and I went defiler. The problem is that there is no real tank in this duo. If you guys plan to group all the time that is perfectly good and well as the 2 of you bring a lot to a group. However, if you plan to duo either change the assasin to a fighter class (sk or berserker) or change the healer to an inquisiter. The better armor (heavy vs medium) will allow the inquis to tank the mobs a bit better while the assasin sticks the mob in the butt.

I play a Barbarian Fury. My AC stinks, but I have better than average hitpoints and a really good Agi cuz of the race and Fury buffs.

More often than I like the mobs get off the tank and onto me - and I just chain regro and bloom myself until the tank and dpsers get em killed. Sometimes they manage to taunt em off, but often I end up "tanking" or taking the mobs' damage. Against 3 yellows or oranges it gets ugly. But for even cons and below, I am pretty hard to kill.

As a Fury I duo w/ the other gnome of evilgnome's pallie a lot (well it's still just a crusader). It's a good combo tho - crusader gets agro and tanks while I do a mix of DoT, healing and DDing. And I fight, for that little bit extra it is worth.

Going w/ an evil cleric and the plate armor might be good, though. If you go ***/Shaman the shamie might have to heal himself most fights.

My two Cents:

Assassin = DPS
Bruisers = DPS/Tanks

Best duo combo in my eyes, would be a Bruiser/Defiler

Explaination:

Defilers arent particularly good at one thing, but alot of things. First being buffs.. second being debuffs, third being preventing damage, and even being able to heal adds to the greatness of this class. Inquistors are far better healers, but you wont get the DPS/debuffs as you would with a defiler. Bruisers relay on mitigation/dodging/parrying ( I think ), basically AVOIDING.. which is why i think defilers fit so well with them with wards.. so not only would you have DPS from a bruiser, but as opposed to an assassin, can tank as well.

i would say Inquisitor becuse you can where the best amor and act as a sub tnak use debuff to pull so the Assassin can get his back hits in where most of the dps comes from and you may not be a tank but it is the colset any healer realy coems to hit ac and hp whise
