What Nukes are you all using the most?Follow

What nukes do you all seem to be using the most? Especially soloing at around level 23?

I've been using my adept III Lightning burst, static pulse combo with an HO. That and my pet.. I think there must be a more powerfull combination out there. I used to be able to solo Green 2-Ups, now I can't even with my Adept III soldier..

Any thoughts out there?

Are you using an upgraded DoT? I don't play a summoner, but the other Gnome of EvilGnomes does... Seism - LOTS of adept 1 seisms for sale, it's a common drop and not as expensive to upgrade as other spells.

I'm still a Sorc, soon to be Wiz. Yeah, I do that HO jazz a lot but w/ Ice Spike (adept 1) - and while the HO button is recycling I use Blaze.

And I can't solo jack. Well, I can solo some green ^^s IF root holds. IF. I mean, a green ^^ on me shreds me pretty fast. And I only DoT if I'm using this tactic (root-dotting). DDs break root too fast.

Are you trying different options? Well first, did u take the Spec training option that helps your pet? The other Gnome's pet actually taunts - or seems to - after the patch, with that Spec. tr. Another option would be to root and DoT before sending pet in... but pet breaks root - and it will charge u - bad idea.

Have u tried sending pet in and Dotting and then really healing pet ? And have u upgraded your pet heal spell?

Hope that helps. Us Gnomes are usually teamed - I almost wish we'd gone for a team of 2 summoners - I get bored holdind off on the nukes, draw agro off the pet, and die too much. Bad Gnome! Well, GL.

honestly I don't have many adept 1 spells.. I have been fortunate enough to find the adept 1 summon, Seism Adept 1.. and bludegoning earth Adept 1, storm of lightning Adept 1... everything else is at app III.. so I don't use nukes often..

I mainly use dots typically I have 2 on the mob at any given time as my pet tanks...

following up with an HO and hoping I get Arcane storm instead of arcane fury so I can use my more powerful finisher... regardless by this point the mob is severly beaten down by my pet and DOTS so even with an Arcane Fury finisher I can bring it down swiftly.

yeppers that's very true.. for a summoner or conjuror ^^ greens are cake.. thanks to pet tanking (if your pet is Adept+).. for other mages.. welcome to the pain. Perhaps if you had two different root spells to alternate between it might help.. unless they're linked on the same timer.. dunno.

I'm still working on an effective solo tactic for non-pet mages.. but my only mage duo's mainly soooooooo I don't have many opportunities to examine possibilities.

Yes, I think you can have more than two DoTs, too. How many? Not sure.

Yeah, as a sorc I get a new root at 19 I think. Not sure if it's on the same timer. W/out a pet I must root-dot to solo a lot of things. Can kill green ^^ but only if roots work. I have to run a lot.

You can have as many DoT's as you can cast. That's how I get a lot of my damage. I stack all of my DoT's and then lay into the mob with a constant stream of Blaze and Ice Spike.

Freezing Whorl really helps to up the damage on both of those, so even if I didn't cast the others, I would always cast that one. :)

I'm a sorcerer by the way, but I have taken a character up to Wizard before.

Seism, bludegoning Earth, and if I'm feeling confident it will not take hate.. I'll drop a static pulse on the mob as well..

though I've noticed with my Conj that stacking 3 DOT's on the mob draws a bit too much hate.. so I don't normally do that.. However for a Sorcerer or other mage classes it's likely in your best interest to pump as many DOTS into the mob as you can...

Hello.

I wanted to follow up on ths as the OP had asked what main DD spells (nukes) were being used, esp around 23. As i'm not 23 i can't attst to that, i'm 31 atm. I can tell you that for me, a conj, i use Dust Blast and Spiked Rain all the time as my nukes (the latter debuffs AC so it is nice). As to the other point in this thread, the DoT's, at 31 you have 6 useable dots, and they all stack, and they all don't draw that much hate, esp when solowing if you just wait for your pet to take aggro. In a group situation, spam em, it is rare that you will loose hate if your tank taunts.

Dark Distortion Adept III

BOOM!!!

Rarely hits below 300. Normally pops for around 400.

Can't wait to see it after the caster DPS boost in the next big patch. Of course, scouts still rule DPS.... for the moment.

Anyone know if there is an HO compatible with this spell?
I haven't seen one as of yet.

At 25 wizzy, i am using ball of fire (adept 3)
the dmg range from 390 - 550(very rare) for green^^ mobs.
Blazing intimidation also deal decent damage for wizzy.

Well, I'm only a 6 mage, so my only nuke is Lightning Blast... But it is darned good!

EDIT: I'm using it at apprentice I. How do I upgrade it?

As a conjuror.. Dust blast, dust blast, and ummm...dust blast. It's the only nuke we get past lightning burst :P
I lay the dots on thick as well, and I usually don't have aggro problems, even if healing a lot as well. Maybe space 'em out a little? I also wait for my pet's taunt attack (it shows up with a blue graphic, I think) or for pet to proc fire seed for the first time before starting. Also, if you are low on power... use the ho, and hope for arcane fury... use lighntning burst. It takes less power, but the HO will do its normal damage.
And! With the new adventure pack, wands do damage. It's a clicky, with about an 8 second casting time. Sounds like a long time, but with well-placed dots... it's very nice! Mine (I'm lvl 30) is the tier4 oak wand, and it does about 250 points of damage. Power-free! :)
