Anyone else noticed that prices for Tier 2 harvested resources are now about what Tier 1 harvested resources were a couple weeks back- that is to say dirt cheap?

As recently as a week or two ago, I could sell Electrum Clusters for 50-80cp, Turquoise for about the same, sullied armadillo pelts for 40-60cp, Tuber Strands for 30-50cp and even iron clusters for 10-20cp. I check the Brokers tonight and see prices as low as 3cp for Tubers and around 5cp each for the other goods. One silver for an entire stack of harvested resources, especially if they're wind-swept rock resources (seem to be by far the hardest to find) doesn't begin to compensate the harvester for the time required.

I'm sure that the reason for this, at least in part, is that players have reached such high levels that Tier 2 goods are basically newbie range now. I see tier 4 goods being auctioned regularly already.

The problem I see is that, with the collapse of prices, players on their way up aren't going to be able to afford higher Tier goods because, unlike the now higher-level players, they weren't coming up when prices were high(er) so they didn't make as much coin as the first group did. It's one thing to come up with 10gp for a spell if you were getting 18sp/stack of goods; it's quite another if you're not even getting 1sp from that same stack now.

The reason is that the patch stopped you getting wholesaler credit for broker-bought items. When 15 iron clusters got you 12 silverthey were worth 60c. Now they aren't

It will take a while to shake down into real rather than inflated values ie what people will pay for stuff for what it is.

Think of the tea leaves and coffee beans and how well they and all the other things that were never subjects of wholesaler quests sold - well that is where everything is now.

This is correct, the crash was caused by the remove of Broker Purchased items for the Wholesaler tasks. If you watched the broker over the course of the day, any time more the half of the item types droped below they key values (20,80,320) you would see them disappear in about 10-15 minutes.

People made a lot of money doing this and kept prices for raw resources high. Now those resources no longer have simple value like that, it actualy takes crafting to make money from them. So the only people buying them are those that can actualy use them. This has caused demand to drop like a rock, and will hopefully result in craft items holding steady in price if not dropping slightly despite the trade skill changes.. With the exeption being ink of course. ;)

Honestly, I didn't even consider that as being a factor.

Since I raised the question about whether or not getting a Wholesaler Task and buying the required resources from the Broker was an exploit (I thought it was, albeit a then legal one), I never did it. Still, I admit that I really enjoyed the coin I made from other people doing it. I'll miss it.

This is really what SOE wanted since players in EQI were getting thousands of K they just reset the money. However the players that were making tons of money from selling stuff for wholesale tasks off the brokers were making it so that they were the ones that would get (maybe not thousands) but at least 1k over about a few months or so. Face it people this is not going back.

rinse repeat. I wonder why sont let this go on for so long.

ahh well. still love the game. I also love the fact that they took tier two items off the vendors in the crafting guilds.

I hate that they took Tier 2 items off the wholesaler :/ I understand why they did it, people could buy them as food for a very low price (especially antonican coffee), but I craft mainly during the day Eastern time, and there's very few people selling those items at the broker. I only use tier 2 stuff to do the occasional Workshop task I get as teir 2 (mostly I get tier 3), so ifI wanna do those tasks, I have to go out and harvest the stuff myself.

While that may be the intended way of doing things, harvesting and making items that are grey to me is not fun. If they were for sale from a lower provisioner, I'd buy them...but they rarely are.

not hardly worth the effort to bring in the stuff, I dont have the time to LEAVE A BLOODY toon logged on, nice sales solution SoE, ever heard of CONSIGNMENT SELLERS and BROKERS, oh yeah I can use a broker to buy but I have to stay logged ON sell ?!?! ARGHHHHHhhhh. Geez guys cut the server load and let the brokers handle my goods while I am offline, for a fee of course, as it stands now I destroy stacks of TS and NEK items for lack of space and time to sit around in my STUPID room and sell. This solution is no better or maybe even a worse idea than the Baz was in EQ, and I think it is implemented in an even poorer manner. If you are not on during prime time, you can't find or sell items....severly limiting crafting as a potential, and if you are, welcome to 4 zone instances and grouping nightmares. It seems like they took the things from EQ that WEREN'T BROKEN and horked them all up just for giggles, and then IGNORED things that needed attention. The characters in EQ2 have about as much uniqueness to them as 2 pennies do....Maybe they look a wee bit different but they function 98.5 % the same way, there is really ONLY ONE WAY in EQ2....the your in OUR WORLD, SoE way...I can macro my group casts for almost 95% of my usefulnes and then target the main tank, and Viola click...debuf, click...ward/shield my group....tap feet. Rinse and repeat as needed to releive boredom or is it cause it...I am so confused sometimes...illogical programming and vapourware makes me a very silly boy...Mob locking is INSANELY stupid and just emphasizes SoE's refusal to deal with the situation, and NOW we get the mad dash for resources. The fact that you are there harvesting etc it seems to make no difference to the NUT Job who will walk up and harvest right out from under you... Claim it is a Massively Online game and then eliminate 75% of the player interaction by dis-allowing casting on non-group mobs. I can't begin to count the times I watched someone run, but not yell or put away weapon, and get killed right there....all the while wondering WHY NO-ONE WAS HELPING :)

Honestly, I saw this coming from when they changed the harvest score in Antonica/Commonlands from 50 to 20. I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that SOE changed it where you can't get the items from the brokers, rather that the newbies are now allowed to harvest in the Tier two lands, and they just aren't doing it in the Tier 1 areas.

Supply and demand. Everyone wants to get their hands on tier 2 items, so they forget that people had to start making stuff with tier 1 first. I have a character on AB. 20th level, and I just started working on the crafting. 1sp each for a black coffee bean, but 1cp for Antonican coffee bean. Why? Because there were THOUSANDS of Antonican coffee beans, and one person selling black beans.

My toon has their harvesting skills set to harvest in the TS...but I'm going around the Peat Bog instead, cause that's where the real money is made.

Prices also will begin to decrease as more people are able to make certain items.

Case in point is the App IV spells. When I first started making them people were willing to buy them in the 1-2 gold range. Over the last few weeks though prices on them have dropped due to more people making them, Adept I tomes coming up more, and people generally moving on to the whole Adept line.

In EQ as in real life you cant just make the same thing over and over again and expect it to always be in high demand. Find those items that people are wanting.
Talk to guildmates of different Tradeskill classes and see what components they are always needing, make those then sell them at a reasonable price, until the market becomes flooded then find something else to make.

Then main thing is stay fluid, and try to find items in your Tradeskill that not alot of people are making. The broker or the selling board in your house can be a great source of information, just by opening your recipies book up, editing to Finished or Refine items and browsing through to see what things are selling for, if anyone is selling them at all, ect...

I have found that I can make Maple Quills(and they dont have to be above crude)and eaisly sell them for 3-5 silver each.
I have heard of Studs and sheets selling well for other people.

*****One thing to look for in the items you make, is if they are for the Primary or Seconday.
If for the primary you will want to make only Pristine pieces because most buyers will be looking to create the best piece they can, and only Pristine gives you the 4 bars of Durability.
If for the Secondary for speeds sake only make crude items and then stop. People will buy the crude a whole lot quicker then the pristine or even shaped versions, because the quality of the Secondary items make no difference on the final piece.

In conclusion, find a niche and go for it. Worst comes to worst when the market for certain items falls out, you can sell the rest of what you have made to a vendor then move on to the next item.

Well, I think that alot of people have started reading this thread. Last night I was going to buy 3 stacks of roots, and the cheapest price that I could find was 90cp per root. This is a tier 1 forage. Just last week I was buying them for 2 to 5cp each.
So going from 40cp - 1sp per stack to 18sp per stack. I do find this a big jump in prices. in less then a week.

So, I ended up running around for 3 hours hunting roots.
