hard to say if it's got enough info or not... requires logging in to view any of it.

and, no, i won't visit an ige sponsored site, when i've likely got all the same info available to me here, with no ads :).

good luck to you, though.

sorry im not IGE anything.

it's called google ads people. it displays what google wants to display.

go to google type in "adsense" you can read about the program

also if you think we have the same info as here you are sadly mistaken. I recommend you have a look. Joining is free, just takes 5 mins.

Here's a run down of the info our site has. First of all 100% collected info taken directly from the EQ2 Datastream. All of the following info is taken directly from the game.

NPCs (more info than any current eq2 website.)
NPC spawn locations.
Monster loot tables.
Vendor stock.
Quests.
Quest origins (whether starts with npc or item)
Quest rewards and details like which action you performed to advance the step stage.
Tradeskill recipes. (linked to from the tradeskill books page.)
Skills and abilities linked to proper classes

Anyways, im not forcing you to visit. but everybody whos taken to the time to look around has been pretty impressed.

your loss. sorry to hear that. Large sites have to pay for their server upkeep some how. Narrow minded people wouldnt enjoy the site anyways. All i can do is offer information, it's up to you wether or not to utilize it.

What is IGE???
Sorry for asking this...kinda newbie..he he
#9 Jan 07 2005 at 12:16 PM Rating: Default
i dont recall what it stands for. but i beleive it's a site that sells everquest platinum as well as money for other online games.

they apparently have a good rank on google because yet it shows them a lot. albeit beyond my control. I dont use them or condone them, but guess what google sends me a check if enough ppl see the ad. dedicated web servers arent cheap.

youll see the same ads by going here.

http://www.gry-online.pl/eq2/index.asp

google determines them not us. if you get all upset about that, pay for our fees, not going to remove them and provide these out of pocket because of somebody who whines about them. =(

i didnt intend to upset you, just to give you my impression, so that you could perhaps improve your hook. i'm a web developer, and i should have been more in depth with my comments, but my boss walked in :x.

if you gave maybe a small tour of a couple of items, or something that says... "why use us?" ... which you may, but it wasnt obvious, then you might improve the clickthrough rate. (note: i did find a "why use?" but it was under "about us.")

as far as readability... yes, that font is a bit hard to read. look and feel is nice otherwise, though.

We do have some terms & conditions that you must abide by to use our web-site. You can read them here. If you do not read AND agree to these conditions, you should not use our resources.

i'm not sure where "here" is... perhaps there's a link missing :x.

as it is, i've got so many logons just on forums i *use* that i hesitate to add more, when i've no idea what the actual offering is.

in addition, perhaps i chose my words badly. let me rephrase: i've likely got all of the information that i will *use* here, and on the other sites that i already use and support. hook me, and i might add yours to my list ;).

i apologize for not noticing the google bit... as i said... i was interrupted :).

i did intend my wish for your good fortune sincerely :).

Right so you are sponcered by IGE, thats what i said.
#12 Jan 07 2005 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
IGE is a company that sells in-game money for real world money..

honestly it's bad.. because you get "money-sellers" who will jack up the prices on items and work to control the market to make MORE game-money to sell to the sites they work for...

because the prices are so jacked up, people are tempted to pay these sites for in-game money in order to afford the things that the money-selling sites employees have jacked the prices on in the first place...

notice the vicious circle?

for example: Final Fantasy XI, which I played for a while.. has the most jacked up economy I've ever seen, things aren't cheap there anyway.. but once word got out about rare items that could only drop from one mob which was on a timer.. it was camped like there was no tomorrow...

Huu Moju the Torrent drops the "monster signa" this item is seen as a necessary item for Bards.. and is considered a VERY good idea for Beastmasters... price, last I heard before I quit FFXI was that it was going for 8 MILLION gil.. it took my white mage 3 SOLID weeks of gil-farming every night, 4 hours a night plus weekends to have the 120,000 gil I needed for the three teleport spells...

see the problem? that's some pretty nasty math isn't it?

edit: oh in FFXI you can't make money and gain XP at the same time.. which made it doubly vile.

no problem.

yes that a good idea, i will work on a "tour"

as for the missing terms of agreement. yes, it's in the process we will have it linked when we finish it. for now the site is freely usable, this text is there for when we're ready with the terms. Basically it will just be to protect us in the eyes of the law when we ban ppl who try to leech our data etc, so they can't sue us.

I changed the font to arial, is that easier to read?

for those that don't know, IGE is a company that exists to farm plat and ingame items in all mmorpg's for sale for cold hard cash... real cash. like dollars.

let's not debate it here, since it's a tad off topic for the thread, but to give those unfamiliar with the topic something to work with, there are people that adamantly oppose the practice, and maintain that it upsets game economy, and there are others that, just as adamantly, maintain that it does not.

if you wish to see or participate in a feeding frenzy on the subject, look at this thread.

much! i was able to scan *much* more quickly with the font change.

the only other visual critique i had was that the fonts in the sidebars are *tiny*. the middle isnt quite as bad. just one notch up across the board would help for those that might have vision problems. the "News Archives > Daily News" is fine, just the rest could use a bump.

you'll also want a copyright notice in the footer on all pages, or at the bottom of the left sidebar or something... acknowledge that sony owns soe, eq2, blah blah... ninja one if ya have to... but do it quickly, before you generate traffic, and attract their attention. something like...

... which i trimmed and adjusted slightly from the one niami has on eqtraders :).

yar you'll have a tos... but ya might consider making the copyright notice more ubiquitous so they dont have a reason to start any ickyness on ya.

Looks like you may have allot of neat stuff there, I'll have to check it out more in depth when I get home. I always love to see new fan sites for games I enjoy.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone.

DO NOT use your STATION NAME & PASSWORD as your login on any other website. Especially EQ related websites.

aye. i dont think people would do that. but regardless. their password is md5 encrypted. which is a one way encryption so even i couldnt get their password )

The thing that sets us apart from all the other eq2 websites is that you the user can help us obtain even more accurate information. Just like the old lucy, we get our information from a collection program you load and run while you play. So when we fix it to work with the new "big" patch. you can help make our database the largest and most accurate out there.

I normaly don't like tarv much, nut I have to go with him on this. I may sound "close-minded" but when the first thing I see is 2 ads saying CHEAP EQ2 PLAT, I say, "ok bye-bye, I don't want to support you in any way." I'm sure you don't support the practice of plat-selling, but I still won't do anything for your site until I don't see that first thing. *I do stick to this EXACT wording, move it to the bottom of the page and I just think "well ain't that a *****."
