I Hate My New Training Pet!Follow

#1 Jan 06 2005 at 8:41 PM Rating: Decent
Because once SoE sees just how effective it is (well, at least compared to what I was used to), I see immediate and serious nerfage. I hope I'm wrong.

As you may know, the new patch gave us several Training Abilities. Among them was a choice between several nice abilities (I'm guessing this was my level 20 Training choice), one of which was the Fallen Hero.

This thing can >TANK!<. It gets multiple hits off pretty frequently, does excellent damage and even pulls with a conjured missle weapon. It also (and thank you for this SoE!) generates Hate with every swing, so I can (finally!) stand back and DoT without worrying that the least damage from me will get me a face full of mob in short order.

I'm >very< impressed, SoE. You've gone a great length toward restoring my faith that you do (occasionally) listen to your customers.

I was pretty impressed with the pets damage, that tripple hit range thing is pretty nice. BUT, he holds aggro no better than the other pets. I think the reason you are seeing the biggest difference is that this pet is Adept 2 at the start and you were probably (assuming) you were using app 3 or adept 1 pet. I still can't get my pet to tank anything double up without pulling aggro off of him doing nothing but healing. /shrug. Oh well.

I read this post and got all giddy, then hit lvl 20 and get no new pet so umm are you sure we get a tradition at lvl 20?

oh yea by no pet I mean no tradition pet. I got the fire pet but he is a joke in comparison to the adept 1 recruit... SOE has a sick since of humor Im not sure what he is ment to do... conns 19 is weak as hell not really much dps from what I saw. Atleast the recruit is a lil bit better now being 20 instead of 19 lol /cry

Hello.

To follow up on this, don't worry, SoE will not nerf these pets. At least not as drastically as they have done our conj spells above lvl 30. Your lvl 20 Fallen Hero pet is exactly the same as the Conj's lv 20 Hero pet. You'll be happy to know that you get a better soldier when you get up near lvl 25ish, (24 for conjs) that is a soldier. Alot more hp/power and quite a bit mor of a tank.

No worris lol they won't be nerfing that anytime soon or we are just gonna quit the game.

As to the fire pets, you have to know when to use them. They ARE NOT tanks, and are usually not used in solo encounters. In group encounters they rock because they can do dd fire (conj pet) for well over 100, and you get the awesome benefit of the fire touch for your group (which stacks with fireseed for conj's). the lvl 31 savant (fire pet) is an ae fire caster, great for groups and its dd fire spell can hit for over 200. Lousy mele, obviously hits only for 7, but rely's on its fire mor often than not. I'd not say they suck, in groups they rock. The tank rocks in groups too as it is another SOLID tank that can taunt (the soldier that is). So it all works out for us.
