Hi mates,

I just bought the game last night and i'm still reading the manual and the guides....
I am a former Star Wars Galaxies player, and it is also my first EQ experience.
Was wondering if any of you out there have the same background and could give me any advice on how to play it, which server is better, etc, etc.

Thanks.
Pasho.

We play on Steamfont (EvilGnomes - Steamfont - it's a theme), and it's okay. Someone mentioned one of the servers was down a lot, and I forgot which one... (Oggok? not sure tho) - wasn't Runnyeye or Mistmoor or any of the original overcrowded ones.... Well, they're all probably okay by now. I don't think any are overcrowded any more - the opening rush seems to be over.

Um... you don't need to do every stinkin' quest on the first place you go, the Isle of Refuge (IoR). Most of them aren't much worth it (do not waste time seeking feathers for that collection quest - the reward is pretty much junk - and the feathers are quite rare - trade for them w/ other players if u must finish it). Get your harvest skills up to 20 at least - that's easy to do. Do the Assistant Dreak quest in the basement of Malvonicus' tower - it gives ya a head start on tradeskillin.

Honestly - you don't need to do every quest. Why? Cuz when you get to FP or Qeynos you'll be doin' all sorts of easy quests for better gear - much better gear - and almost everything from IoR will be antiquated (you level so fast under lvl 10 that the early gear isn't much worth futzing over - sure, get some of it - but you honestly don't need all).

Mostly learn the HO (heroic opportunity) system, which u can use by lvl 5 or 6. Google "EQ2 heroic opportunity guides" or search this site for em - too much to explain here. Note that when you leave IoR you'll want to upgrade your spells/abilities asap (u can buy "apprentice lvl 2" upgrades in your new town, but not on IoR). Learn to make app lvl 3 upgrades if you want, or find and check Broker npcs to see if players are selling better upgrades (Adept 1 > App lvl 3). They are little scrolls or potions or cubes, depending on yer class - and u just rt click em and "scribe" to install the upgrade (which makes damage spells do more damage, heal spells heal more, etc. etc.).

Oh, once you leave IoR do work on upgrading all your gear. It's very important from that point on.

Well, that's my Smiley: twocents. GL!

1. Don't forget to cancel your SWG account; companies count on us forgetting for a month or two.

2. Spend all the time you need on the Isle of Refuge getting used to interface, quests, grouping, mobs , etc. It goes fast, it's easy exp, and ******** up doesn't hurt much at all. If you have any idea of tradeskilling, this is the place to find out if you like it.

3. Personally I found commonlands (evil) much better for any soloing, but also personally I found the game blows very large chunks of refuse for soloing.

4. Have fun, it's cheap entertainment.

5. Was jump to lightspeed a joke, or was it just me?

Thank you guys.
I installed the game last night. Everfrost server.
Still doing the tutorial part, but so far it has been good.

Have another question...wich race in you opinion is the best to start with? I chose Erudite (cool look) but not sure....is it good?

About SWG...didn't even play the expansion!!!! I was one of the first players since it was released and since the very begining was a complete mess...you spend a bunch of time building your char and after that they (unanimously) decide that they had to rebalance the profession and change everything!!!
That happened all the time.

besides, they were pushing back the expansion several times meanwhile the game was with no content...not even the jedi thing!! they spend like 8 months trying to come up with a nice jedi skill tree and how to get there....

dont take me wrong...the game is good "per se" nice franchise, etc...but it was not finished when they released and they did it in the way...messing with all of us!!

I gave it a chance but after 1 year waiting....you finally think you were robbed!!.

Hope this doesn't happen with EQ2.
So far so good.

Pasho.
