Betraying Freeport...Follow

This isn't actually anything but a social post, as I've already completed the Betrayal quest from Freeport to Qeynos as Miaruru, my Iksar...

I simply want to get some opinions about this whole affair. Is it just me, or does the betrayal from Qeynos to Freeport seem a bit 'cooler' to the average player? Being evil is a great escape, yes, and going from good to evil is even more respectable, apparently.

Am I nerd for switching from evil to good? :)

Am I the only one who thinks it's kinda nifty to be a 'good' Iksar?

I remember seeing at least a few high elves and halflings going through the pain of the Betrayal to Freeport a day. Since I've turned my back on the path of Generally Not Nice, I've spied perhaps a single other Iksar, a ratonga who was losing his fur, and a dark elf that looked suspiciously like Jerry Lewis.

Want to hear your opinions!

on blackburrow, i've seen several iksar, trolls, dark elves, and ratongas in qeynos. i've also seen high elves, dwarves, and other good races in fp, though not a lot of em. i think it varies on each server.

my bard is a troll that's moving to qeynos (starting tonight!) so he can sing happy songs and not be snickered at :).

i thought about creating a good race toon that would move to fp but it just didnt seem to work in my head ... couldnt come up with a backstory i liked :x.

Perhaps it's just the Innothule server. Maybe it's simply that the name of the server hints at evil and nefarious doings because of the original inhabitants of the swamp for which it derives it's name. Meh :) Guess it's just conjecture.

I don't think I could start off in Qeynos. 'Sides, the evil side has such nifty and, sometimes, cute races. Ratonga, Iksar, Ogres. C'mon now, evil is stacked with loveable, huggable species! Sure, it's sorta neat to make that bald, bloodthirsty dwavern Bruiser of death (Think Grimgnaw of Neverwinter Nights)... but, to me, there is something enchanting about a bizarre class/race combo like a Ratonga Berzerker (Which I am in the process of making... I *love* the little anthro rats.) or a Trollish Bard ( think Deekin, the kobold bard, also in Neverwinter nights ).

I wish I were on Blackburrow. I'd be more than happy to assist you in your quest. It's a black-death *pain* to find the five named gnolls and end their existence. The journey from Freeport to Qeynos is a headache. It is all worth the end result, though, so you have my support in such a noble venture.

I am getting ready to do this with a 17 Dark Elf Shaman. I have XP turned off and am waiting for a 13 Ratonga Rogue guildy of mine to level up so we can make the run together. I actually made the run once already because I was curious about how bad Nek forest is at this level (very) and now my Nek map is illuminated, which is nice.

If anyone is ready or almost ready to do this on the Mistmoore sever, let me know and we can include you in our band of FP to Qeynos betrayers.

I am making a Goody two shoes Rat aswell, i just picture a Swashbuckling rat as pretty cool!!

My wife is going down the Dark elf Ranger route, that i imagine there are countless male versions of called Drizzzztt and variants... Smiley: oyvey.

Some of the Evil Races do fit the "Good" classes in my opinion.

To me, Ratongas (or neo-Roekillik if you are as much of a story geek as I am) fit more or a good or neutral role than evil... it's silly to not let you choose to be a Qeynosian Ratonga. I love the little anthropomorphic buggers. :)

And yeah... I've seen several variations of 'Drizzt'... though the names seem to be completely random without even a nod at following the book. (Can we say Barbarian berzerkers named 'Drizzit'... I've even seen female dark elves named Kattybree or some such. )

Thanks! It was fun making the run and then going to Antonica and grabbing all those quests for when I return to kill my 500 gnolls. I also snuck into the Peat Bog, Down Below, Vermin Snye and North Qeynos, which was fun. In all, during the run and the bootstrutter quest I did in Antonica, I went from 35% to 70something% in a couple hours without killing a thing. That was suprising.

BTW I know I previously posted about this little adventure...apologies if it was here on Alla and I am repeating myself.

I was considering going evil, it seems to add more depth to a character than turning good :)

Couldn't resist the call of the paladin class though, so I'm stuck in Qeynos now.

Nevertheless, to satisfy my curiosity I did create a character (troll brawler) in Freeport. Now I'm just thinking about having a troll betray and make a troll monk? Or would that be madness?

I am an ogre who betrayed and am now in Qeynos. It was a lot of fun, but I don't see any other ogres. See other "evil" classes, just no ogres. But it's tons of fun being a foot taller than everybody else LOL.

I'm an Ogre who betrayed Freeport as well. I'm a Crusader right now that is currently on the path to becoming a Paladin. For some reason I just think it would be really fun to run an Ogre Paladin.

I suppose odd combos like that are only enjoyable for us EQ1 players, though (or folks versed in some old-time RPG lore). Kind of like "you had to be there to get it" kind of thing.

I mentioned to a friend the other day that I thought it would be interesting to see a Dwarf Necromancer. He just kind of looked at me like "huh?" :) He just didn't get it :)

Fanatic, I've got an extra character slot open... I might have to come join you. I do so love deh anthro rats. :) I also love to watch the Qeynosian players visibly stop to turn and stare at an obviously not-good race in their city. Silly me, I didn't research the particulars before I decided to start the betrayal... shame on me, but I wanted to do it without the aid of spoilers. *Ahem* Right after I dinged 18, I promised myself. Yeah. So I am 'evil'.

On Innothule, I am only one of a pawful of good Iksars in the city... and perhaps the only female Iksar. It's an interesting experience. :)
