Is it worth it!Follow

Hi all,

I now have two toons crafting (22 weaponsmith, 21 woodworker). I have spent a lot of time and effort (and gold) on getting these characters to this level, but every time i make anything i am impressed with, all my player friends who are about level 20-26 adventurer levels laugh at it and show me stuff they have bought or looted because they are making shedloads of cash and loot from running around killing things.

it feels to me as if I'm racing against the population of EQ to make things better than they can get from quests or loots, and falling right behind. Can anyone put my mind at ease that it will get better.

I understand I can probably make money turning out reams of stuff for other crafters(spikes, staves, hilts etc) and even stuff for players to use (food, drink, arrows)...but i really dont want to spend time grinding away at hundreds of one item for a living. I wnat to make that big thing, the items that make players go WOW...and wnat to buy it from me....or that i wnat to use (24 pally).

What's it like at higher levels anyone? Feling like it's worth the effort yet?

Cheers

Morning Minky,

Level 21 craftsman who thought it would be cool to make nice pieces of furniture as well as ash boxes. In order to survive, I must continually make maple strong boxes and sell them to support my quest to get to level 25. At level 25 I can make Ash Strong boxes.
Most of my money comes from selling a few products that are in high demand. The furniture is not in high demand and may never be since there are no Society points associated with craft items, unlike store bought pieces.

I have given up trying to keep up with the Jones's. By the time I logged in the first time there were already level 20 toons running around on horses (3 days after the release date). Of course the horses were Paladin mounts but my point is simple. Don't waste your time in constant pursuit of being the best in everquest. There will always be people who can play more, do more, and know more. Just enjoy it.

Unless of course you can play Everquest full time. Then I am envious!

Hey bub,

I can see what you are saying. Unfortunately I dont play full time...little matter of mortgage and kids to deal with :(

I really love the crafting part of the game and I dont wnat to power level to make the best things first (I already lost out on that anyway..hehe). I just get a bit miffed when i create something, that last month would have made all my friends go 'WOW' but today has them laugh ingat me wasting my time becuse they have better stuff already. I'm still only talking about me making carbonite weapons here...lol!

What makes it even worse, is that I can spend something like 15-20sp on crafting an axe for instance, then put it up for sale at 30 and not get a bite...I even had such an axe up for 20s (pristine forged carbonite executioner axe) and no-one would buy the damned thing!

Anyhoo..I'll just keep plodding on making my pennies from selling spikes and hoping to find that weapon that everyone wants :)

Cheers
Minky

PS. dont be envious of full timers....it's always nice to have a little bit of what some people call 'a life' to get things into perspective :)
