Creature MasteryFollow

I have a few questions.
1) I received the Orc and Skelly Mastery spell as I lvl'd. I love it... I just get to spite them down with great prejudice with big(ger) damage. I have started the Zombie quest and have started getting the components for the Ghost mastery quest. When, if ever, do I get the Ghost or Zombie mastery spell?

2) Although I have the Orc Mastery spell, and I have killed just under 1,400 orcs, I still have not gotten the orc spirit. I have gotten countless eyes, ears, noses, shins, etc, but no spirit. Any suggested places, times, techniques to hunting for the spirit?

3) I have many of the skeleton parts, and the skelly mastery spell, but I am evil (on Freeport side)... is there a planned method of getting to the Stronghold to get the quest for skelly mastery? or is it just not worth the hassle?

4) Speaking of worth it: what is the reward you get for such "mastery" quests?

I think those are all my questions... I think there are more rattling around in my head, but those are a good start.

I got the orc mastery spell loved it. I am one of teh bugged folks that didn't get to pick an undead version. I am looking forward to the reset when we all get to repick all these.

The 1st time you chose Orc or Gnoll - Which ever you chose you never get the other one. Same goes the 2nd time when you chose Zombie/Ghost/Skeleton which ever you chose kiss the others good bye. This was done to individulize peoples toon and not everyone will be the same.

When talking about the non-droped parts: The spirt is the hard one. What I have noticed is that if 1 mob gives you credit they all will. So if you kill a solo and you get cridit you get 1 of the items. if you kill a group of 3 or more and get credit then you will get all 3 at once. Many people have found it easier to delete the quest then reread their book and start it over. Then kill large groups of low levels untill they get all 3. We had a scout do that in group over the weekend. That spirt he had been missing for 3 weeks showed up 30 min after deleting and restarting.

All the above could be null and void when the big patch hits tho.

When I went in it was as a group with someone who had been there before. (he scouted it out while invis) If you can do it invis it is really pretty easy. Is it worth it? That is peronal prefernce. I do quest just because. That is where I get my enjoyment at. It was worth it to me.

The only reward for completing the Mastery quests are trophys for your house. I have finished the Zombie, Orc, and Skeleton ones. Just 1 drop away from the Giant and 2 from the trent ones.

Thanks for the detailed answer Sbs. That helps. I think if the orc spirit is not fixed after the big patch I will delete it and try it again... I get so many of all the other drops, it should not take long to at least get back to where I am now.

Do these statues/trophies reduce add to the status or whatever it is that reduces your room rate? I really don't know what I am talking about except that I think i read/heard that there are some items you can get for your room that would reduce the amount you have to pay for the room. (not that 5 silver is a lot... I am just cheap!)

Where do these mastery quests begin?
#7 Jan 05 2005 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
I have completed both the Gnoll and Skeleton. I currently have lore items taking up room in my bank for the Fairy and Giant, but I am unable to find out where to find the quest starting books. I looked at the Quest Lookup, but none were listed.

I tried to do a search on these forums, but I am given an error due to too many people on. (I have been a premium subscriber for 3+ years).

Any help would be appreaciated.

Good Hunting!

The mastery quests begin by acquiring or clicking on a book, for instance, "Know your Gnolls," or "Skeletons." The Skelly book is a clickable item in the Stormhold Library. Look here: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?&eq2quest=769

I have the gnoll book on my ranger but cannot remember where I got it. Alla says its found in the Gnollslayer keep, so I assume it is another clicky one.

Sorry - I do not have Giant and Fairy either and do not know where to get them.

Ok here is a summary of everything I have found from beta and in the game live so far about the Creature Mastery. I will start with dispelling the rumors (false hoods), and then I will give the facts of what is real. I would like help to identify the locations, rewards and any additional information about these quests. I posted a thread to gather this information for those that have the knowledge to help out...

Rumors/ Falsehoods

Creature Mastery is tied to learning a creatures language
Not true. Those are separate quests that are either bought or looted from drops of creatures in certain zones.
Creature Mastery is tied to special attacks against those kinds of creatures
Not true. Those are gained at certain levels as you advance in your adventure classes. Such as Orc and Gnoll at level 12
Creature Mastery is tied to Hunter and Slayer Titles that are worn
Not true. Those titles are gain by the number of a certain kind of creature that you have slain. Hunter of “what ever” is given at 500 kills and Slayer of “what ever” are given at 5000 kills.

Truths/ Facts

Rewards for finishing the Mastery Quests
The first is a Book of the lore of that kind of creature that you can place in your house to fill up bookshelves.
The second is a weapon that you can place on your walls for all to see.
The third is experience for finishing the quest.
Rewards are given as soon as you complete the quest. So insure that you have 2 slots of free inventory space if you are close to finishing it.
Creature Mastery drops
Once you have obtained a Book from its location, and have examined it, you will have to gather certain parts of those creatures. All books are No-Drop and can not be traded. Some drop and can be traded or sold on the Market. Some parts are auto loot items that come as you kill that kind of creature. The drop rate of any of the items is random and rare loot. There is no set limit that you need to kill. There are those that are luck that have finished a creature mastery in as little kills at 10, and there are those that have killed well over 1000 of a creature and still have not gotten all the parts to finish the quest.

I will update this list as more info comes in. The Bolded are ones I personally have and verified. Sorry I didn't think to get the loc untill the last one I did. The rest come from searching the Internet. Some of these books seem limited by level to start it. Many people reporting unable to start the Elemental untill 25 and unable to start the gnoll untill level 14

Centaur - Thundering Steppes - western village alled Thundermist - bunk-bed next to a female Halfling NPC - min level 17

Elemental - South Qenyos - Mage Guild - On the level with he books laying all over the floor - min level 25 May be a Freeport version at level 25 Go to the Academy of Arcane Science in North Freeport. Look for a blue book next to the NPC named Scribe Claudia Quarto Thanks to Kylin of Unrest for providing the information on the Freeport one.

Evil Eye - Runnyeye

Fay Mastery - Nektropos Castle Library Secret Room

Giants - Thundering Steppes - under a bedroll in the Sabertooth Hideout area

Ghost - Nektropos Castle - ?? - book "The Haunting". This book is a timed spawn in Nektropos Castle

Gnoll - Antonica - Gnollslayers Keep- inside 1st floor forgot what I clicked on... was a furniture piece of some type

Goblin Mastery - Enchanted Lands - It's inside a lil hut on the giant wall - Loc 283, 5, -246.

Golem - Ruins of Vashoon - Tailor room, upstairs to books - Blue spined book on the mini bookshelf ahead of you.

Orc - Commonlnds - Crossroads - Tower - once inside turn and look out the door, it is the shield on your left.

Siren - Enchanted lands - structure at the docks, small room - bookcase.

Shadowedman Mastery - North Qeynos Academy 2nd Floor assume also in Freeport mage guild

Skeleton - Stormhold Keep - Down deep, thru the storm drain that zones you. In a library - Grren book on the floor - /loc -118, -31, -150

Hey everyone!

There seems to be some general confusion regarding the special tactics, the lore and legends quests, and the slayer titles.

First of all - the slayer titles have nothing to do with any other quests - they are something that all characters have a chance to do regardless of selecting their enemy mastery, or lore and legend quests.

Secondly, the spirit items are rare, but they do not drop as an item that needs to be examined - they will trigger off killing creatures as normal.

Thirdly, Keep searching for those books, there's a lot out there that people haven't found yet - in various libraries all over the Shattered Lands!
