In the opinion of the hardcore tradeskillers are:

1. The Rare materials to rare or just right?

2. The Interdependancy taken too far?

My opinions:

1. Slighty too rare, my wife and i have worked it out to about 1 rare per 1000 harvests, i think this is a little to rare 1 in 100 would make it too easy though so maybe 1 in 250-500?

I think that wouls strike a nice balance and allow people to atually progress in areas that require them.

2. this is totally out of whack, it is impossible to make any end products past lvl 20 tradeskills <ok there are a few> without haveing a partner/broker.

This totally removes the ability of non guilded or casual players to reach the higher levels without buying pp from outside sources WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DO NOT WANT.

I agree that the rares a little TOO rare, but yes 1:100 a little too much. What is the right balance? Who knows.

Interdependencies aren't that much of a problem since I am guilded, but admit it can be difficult. I'm the highest level artisan in my guild, and am at a level now where it's back to buying stuff for too much money to advance until the others catch up a bit. However, I can make a fair amount of money with what I can make, so isn't that big a deal, just frustrating.

It would seem to me that the interdependancy is required to a degree for people like alchemits who really don't make a lot of high demand end products to make a fair profit like a jeweler or a armorer can. If everyone could make their own tempers and what not for cheap who would want to be an alchemist?

Since my solution is to allow multiple Artisan classes, it would not be a problem.

Besides if they make Poisons and potions effective then Alchemists would have a viable end product to sell.

If you want to talk about a Artisan class without a worthwhile end product lets talk about carpenters who rely on people furnishing thier house, which has no effect on gameplay at all.

Currently Alchemst are cash cows.. You need money? create one.

As for the Carpenter.. Their furnature does and will have a use,and by players with lots of money to throw around. In theory it will reduce rent or status required for higher end housing. I know a few carpenters rolling cash because they sell custom orders to higher end players, in fact the secound richest person I know in the game is a carpenter. She can't make the rare items fast enough and always has a several day back order.

The average carpenter may not have much to offer, but there is a demand out there for someone willing to build up a client base and who knows how to sell items.

Definitely too rare as in I have never found one. Oh well. As to interdependency, it hasn't really affected me (except timewise) because I made an alchemist and a woodworker to support my sage.

Level 22 Carpenter here. Don't worry about us making money. We have good old Maple Strong Boxes (16 slot)that we can sell for 50 sp. Leave your character on overnight and you earn 3 GP. Not bad.

Presently I have made about 45GP just selling Maple Strong Boxes. In a few levels, ash strong boxes will be available. They will sell for a few gold apiece.

Haven't made much furniture to sell. My room is fairly stacked but really haven't paid much attention to Social Points.

We aren't starvin!

Bub

P.S. I hate the people who are selling Holiday food for 2 sp. You can buy the same stuff off of a frog bartender in Castleview for 6 cp.
