Looking for some pet information...Follow

Okay, I'm currently a level 19 Summoner on Antonia Bayle on my way to Conjuror tonight. I've essentially soloed my way to this point, which has really been a piece of cake, but at 20 I plan on going to the Steppes and grouping for a good while.

I've had people tell me that the pet we get at level 20 is nothing compared to the Adept 1 Tellurian Recruit in terms of ability. This sort of disappoints me. When I get my class defining pet, will I get to have it out at all, or will I still look like a low level summoner running around with spidey? I haven't seen any upgrades to the 20 pet in the marketplace as of yet, and if I see one, I'm sure it will cost a pretty penny. What pet is best to use in what situation? (I'm assuming the TR will still be used for soloing)

Another thing is is there a way to find out the hitpoints (In numerical form) of your pet? I mouseover and it gives me a percent, and I /pet report and I believe that gives me a percent too. Just wondering if there's anything I'm missing.

Thanks for the help and advice.

when the people told you it was nothing compared to your recruit, they meant in solo ability. he is a caster. He can nook for 200+ damage in his adepts. And well out nuke you. This is why groups like him. He is like a mini wiz who no one cares if it gets aggro. But dont use it in solo inless you want to chain root. It has no problem holding aggro tho, it just dies easy.

Get him adept one if you can, or higher. App3 if thats all you can afford. he is your group pet. You will have to wait till 24 to gt your new solo pet/tank.

Gotcha, that's sort of what I was expecting. Sort of like the Necromancer paper pet, it's for group situations primarily.

Keeping an eye out for upgradable versions, thanks.

Also, if anyone else is looking for numerical hitpoint numbers for your pets, I still don't know how to show it in game, but it's pretty easy to determine with essence shift damage, percentages and some simple math.

There's probably an easier way to do it, hehe. Just not sure how.

I did a little testing with the fire snake at App II and III level relative to my spider at Adept I..

for solo'ing DEFINITELY take the Adept I..

my test target was a scarecrow in the fields near Stepps Station at 20th level, it con'ed double arrow green. at 19th level they con double arrow blue, so this gives you a good idea of how strong it is...

fire snake at app II level was utterly destroyed.. and quickly.. had to make a very quick run to the keep of the gnoll slayers..

spider at Adept I level, same target.. took every drop of power I had.. but I did beat it.

2nd test after buying the App III level fire snake..

I decided to do a slightly less... health removing target for the test.. started with green solo, easy and won without help. Blue solo, easy won with one cure from me. White solo.. bad fight but do'able.. I did notice the average damage output by the App III fire snake was higher than the Adept I spider.. but the spider can take more damage and therefore lasts longer.

so the fire snake at App III level is useful for fighting up to white con but whites can be a challenge if they're strong.

the spider at adept I however can take up to orange.. fighting an orange will be a challenge.

that said, I think the jump from App III to Adept I is more extreme than it seems because the pets become staggeringly potent at least so far at Adept I level.. Something I've noticed is purchasing an App II summon *IF* you allready have the spider at Adept I is a total waste of money, don't bother... save up and go directly to at LEAST App III or if you can find it, Adept I, on future summons..

as far as grouping goes.. I think the Adept I is still be better choice but it's far far less life threatening to use the fire-snake if it's what you wish to use.. and his damage output at App III is impressive (hitting solo whites for 50+, where my Adept I spider hits for 30+ and an occassional 40)
