How do u sell heavy strongboxes?Follow

#1 Dec 31 2004 at 12:54 PM Rating: Decent
Having made as many strongboxes as I need I figured I would sell a few until I tried lifting them. Phew...an I'm a strong lil gnome....

Has anyone got a better solution than staggering along at a snails pace just to get 4 boxes back to my room for sale?

LOL, I bought four last night for my gnome paladin. As they weigh 100 each, I would buy one, run from the inn to the bank, place it and run back. The merchant had something like five on her as well as a pack loaded down with chandeliers... how she moved I do not know.

I have not tried this in a while, so it may be patched and changed, but what I do if I need to make a very heavy box and carry it is:

1. Make sure my inventory is full of bags, but I have empty slots inside those bags (or you cannot craft)

2. Craft the box

3. The box will go into over flow due to not being able to place a container inside another container

Overflow items at least used to not count to weight. They would at least not encomber you. Walk to where you need to go, and then, either destroy a cheap 4 slot bag, or trade it to someone else to take it out of overflow. When you put it into your inventory, you will become over weight. Sell it, trade it, or do whatever.

This may be changed now, as it has been a few weeks since i did this, but it may still be worth a try.

After a night of selling I usually have thousands of copper and move really really slow.. but if I hit sprint at least I move a little faster and usually have enough power to reach the bank from my inn room, even if I'm carrying double my weight allowance (230).

Little thing I noticed was that while encumbered I could use my invis spell on myself and would revert to the default invis'd speed. Though its not fast it is still faster than being fully encumbered.

Notes:

Strong Boxes are designed for the banks, unless you are realy strong and want to save a few silver dont travel much with them. ;)

You can always move, no matter how encumbered you are. You may have to use the sprint and wait methoud.

When crafting boxes, use 1 container and 5 food (or other stacks) to fill up your slots. When you craft a new item it will go into overflow. Items in overflow can not be accessed and do not have any weight. I was carrying 20 Maple Boxes like this the other day.

Once your in your appartment. Stack the misc items up in your first bag and move 5 boxes down. As each one sells move another down from overflow.. Annoying but this is typical the best way to do it.

Overflow will remain after you log in and out. Note: Do not let items sit in overflow for to long. Rarely items in overflow will be lost. I have only had this happen to me once and it was during a server reset.

Yes, as I had mentioned, the overflow idea still works (tested and unchanged). But, if you go WAY over weighted, you can be totally stopped from moving. This happened to me when I first started playing, and I had found the elm boxes on my recipe list. I was "Wow! So many slots! I'm going to fill up my whole inventory with them!" So, I stood there crafting them, and filled up my whole inventory, and then I was going to go party, and realized, "Hey! I can't move! At all!". So, I had to destroy a couple so I could move again. It takes a lot of weight to lose all movement, but it does happen. Like maybe 10 times over weight or so. Maybe less.
