Guardian skills - Upgrades?Follow

Let me start this discussion with my first skill "upgrade", which I noticed didn't seem to be much of an upgrade at all. That is Kneebreak. It uses the same timer as kick, and cost more power. When I watched how much damage I was getting out of each one, I saw no difference. Hence, I have no reason to use kneebreak.

The second skill I noticed that didn't appear to be any type of upgrade is Ruin. Now, it says it does slashing damage over time, however I have only noticed a single hit from Ruin. It uses the same timer as Mangle, and does less damage. Again, I see no point of using this skill.

So someone tell me, am I missing something, or are these skill "upgrades" in fact not upgrades at all?

That has not been my experience. I threw out kick and mangle and replaced with these. They are by far superior to their predacessors. Have you at least upgraded them to App2 yet? Kneebreak hits up to 90 and Ruin does up to 80's with 9dmg dot that ticks once or twice. I think if you got these App2 and tested them out again you will agree they are an upgrade.

Doesn't kneebreak also have an added effect? Can't remember what it is but I'm sure there was something... Hrmmm...

*edit*
Here we go... "An extra medium damage attack that interrupts combat actions."

Not that much of a biggie I guess. :/

Also, higher level Mobs have a better chance of 'resisting' lower level skills.

Thanks for the input guys. I recently reloaded Knee break to check it out. Now that I am several levels past when I first got it, it does do more damage than it initially did, and hence more than kick does. I have also loaded up ruin and the wound upgrade (forget the name) and they are still compareable to the initial skills, but I expect them to increase as I level and my skills go up.

It seems that most likely they start off about the same damage because one skill I have mastered (i.e. kick) and the other I have just learned and still have a ways to go before mastering it (i.e. knee break). So, as I level my new skills will continue to increase in effectiveness while my old skills are already capped.
