I'm beginning to notice some odd imbalances about this game. Quite obviously SoE have done their usual thing and made quest rewards level-appropriate if won with a full group. This makes sense but it does mean that if you solo or duo you are going to be continually getting green quests.

What is a bit wierd is that the rewards are sometimes unwearable. Take nice Mr Dane Steelfist. He gives out decent boots for killing badgers and wolves which are about level 14. However two of the reward options are Chain and Plate boots - not wearable till you are 20. They are still decent then and I'm glad I kept them but it seems a bit strange. Even lower there is a nice shield quest in the Peat Bog but the some of the rewards are not wearable by anyone who should be killing Bog Sludges.

Perhaps it explains why when I'm working on a quest I suddenly see someone (often on a horse) come in and slaughter the entire area which must be terribly grey to them.

I think it is the Journal that does it too. It generates a compulsion to clear quests and deletion seems like defeat so people finish off their quests regardless of the benefit or greyness of the mobs involved.

Of course some quests do rely on chest drops and are no longer possible - I doubt I will ever "Bark like a Gnoll" now Smiley: smile

As usual Cobra, you have hit the nail on the head.

The two main complaints i have with EQ2 are:

The poor loot/Level ratio, i always seem to be getting things i cannot use or that are so utterly useless that there would be no point doing the quest.

Tradeskill Interdependancy, sure make it so you have to do woodworking to make paper but allow me to do both on my own, i do not want to have to rely on other people to make things so i can progress my skills,

The good/evil shared bank devide basicly forces you to choose All good or All evil if you have an interest in Tradeskills without bying or forming an alliance with another tradeskiller.

Often you do not have anything the other tradeskiller would want and you are into pp farming/mudflation on items again <which they have done a good job of isolating and making irrelevant in all other areas>.

Hopefully later quests will be wareable from completion for a good 10 levels and AA will allow for second tradeskill careers.

But to be honest those are my only two gripes and i had far more than that about EQ1 and played it for 3 1/2 years.

It is quite addictive and I do believe that the quest journal is to blame, lol.

You are correct about the quests, I can't delete any of them, it is a waste to do. I have finished quests by slaughtering huge numbers of grey mobs, running around in zones where there are no mobs that can give any xp, just to finish a quest. The reward is minimal, yet it is another quest finished!

Mind you, the whole 'Bark like a gnoll' quest can still be done, I believe you can buy the totems. If you have the money for it, lol, they don't sell cheap.

I hate deleting quests and will often just go clear out as many as possible regardless of challenge or reward when my book fills up ( on my horse if at all possible :D ). Some quests are progressive meaning you can't get quest 2, 3, 4, etc from the NPC until you've completed the first one.

Just last night I was looking for the furniture dealer in stonestair byway and one of the npc's there gave me a quest to go kill rats in the ruins. This is one of the starter zones, quest for 21 sk to go kill level 7 rats.. fun.
