I was recently making Chloro Washes and managed to hit pristine... I got 4 items for that combine...
Is that the only example or do other recipes return multiples?
Be nice to get more than one board out of a severed elm...
Kinda like if you're high enough skill you are better at cutting the lumber...
Also, if you manage to get a combine to trivial do you have to use the counterspells? Or would you still get killed?

Many items give you multiple returns.
Tempers, Oils, Resins, Washes will give you 1 item per quality level.
Vials and Glasses will yeild up to 3.
Arrows will yeild up to 7.
There are more examples but those are the main ones I work with. They are set by item type and their nothing you can do to adjust that. Boards for example always yeild 1, quality is not a factor there.
You always should use the counterspells. They are always effective, and should be used even on grey items. Note you should be triggering at least 3 every phase, event or no. The bonsus still kick in.

Arrows can yield up to 15 that i've seen so far at Tier 4, I suspect Tier 5 will be 20 arrows per pristine combine.
Also along the woodworker tree, Tier 3 totems yield 3 per pristine and Tier 4 totems yeild 9!
Oh, refining wood yeilds two scraps which can be used to make turned lumber. One scrap refined will yeild upto 3 turned lumber, which are used in totem recipes.
BTW, for those wondering, totems are like potions, they can give illusions and some sight and attack and speed buffs. Some are bugged or not working, but the Spirit Totem of the Wolf works and last for 15mins while turning you into a wolf form. The enhanced speed is basically equal to sprint speed for a full 15mins.
