Mobs despawnFollow

#1 Dec 29 2004 at 1:14 AM Rating: Decent
I have had group mobs despawn on me during combat tonight. Happened 6 times . I sent bug reports. They were all group mobs which were green to me, so I was soloing to clean up some quests. Has anyone else had this happen, know why it happened, and can give me any help. Or do I just need to wait till the devs decide to fix it.

happens all the time. whole camps of mobs change.

it's a widespread thing, and i beleive intended. although imo they should have some code that checks and if they are engaged do not respawn them. But alas they dont.

you'll see a good example of this at the south gnoll tunnel in antonica. if you watch the 2 entrance guards. after a few minutes they'll completely change. be a diff name / level. happens constantly.

I knew that they despawned, but as you mentioned, I thought there was some code to keep it from happening if they were engaged. Just seems to make sense, but what do I, a humble player, know about how the game should run.

A lot of times also mobs that spawn at night (ie. sabertooth's in Archers Wood) will despawn in the morning... other MMORPG's do it the same way... whether your in a fight or not!

Sort of silly on things that despawn so often.. can be hard to kill them before they go.

Indeed, I mentioned this many moons ago and others also conveyed their experiences.

Here's a [sorta] recent experience for everyone's amusement... I started a scuffle with defiled squires near the entrance to the path to Stormhold. The group I engaged was a 4 skeleton green con group. I had just killed 2 when they despawned and reappeared fresh (and apparently, a bit more powerful than last time)... and consequently, aggro'd me. Fought them back with half power and 3/4 life, only to have a wandering green skeleton aggro me mid-way through the battle. :D Won the encounters but it was getting a little hairy with no power and orange health.

This usually happens to me once or twice a night. A simple solution is to make sure you fight mobs away from their spawn point, this helps reduce or eliminate the possibility of them respawning on top of you and killing you.

Another annoying problem with this is when your walking past a group of mobs that are grey, and then they respawn green and instantly aggro. Doesn't usually mean death since they are green, but it is quite annoying.

If this is intended then they certainly need to fix it so that they won't respawn if they are "locked". Also, if it is intended, I would like to know the reason why, because it seems nothing more than a annoyance to me.

But where would be the fun in that? No surprise, no ambushes! There would be no "Oh @#$%&!" moment and thus get your blood pumpin'. ^^

I keed I keed. :D
