I installed the game, but I'm getting an error when trying to play.

"You require a video card with 4 texture units"

Please tell me I can fix this without having to buy another new video card...

Ouch...rate down. I'm sorry for asking a question. Have some balls and post if you're going to rate me down, idiots.

Yea.. you need to upgrade man. I think what it's referring to is "pixel shaders" and it probably doesn't accelerate direct x 9. EQ2 is extremely graphic intensive as you probably already know. And I'm not familiar with Nvidia either, but if you decide to go ATI I'm there to tell ya what to get for the $$$ you have (A radeon 9600 128 megabyte played EQ2 just fine for me, I just upgraded to a Radeon 9800 256 for the hell of it)

Sorry, but the MX series of graphics cards is not supported by EQ2. Looks like you'll have to get another. If you bought that one on the express intent of using it for EQ2, I'd take it back and exchange it for another, a list of which appears in this forum somewhere. I am running a GeForce FX 5500 OC w/ 256 MB of DDR and it runs real well. I am also using an Athlon 3.0+ processor w/ 1GB of RAM. The processor is secondary as you can run EQ2 with a far less spectacular processor. Most people run into problems with their choice of video cards...

Well, I'm sure I have enough money for it. It's just how much I'm willing to spend...

And I don't feel like driving for 30 minutes to go get one either.

I may just take it back and get something else. Smiley: banghead

I had to do this with FFXI too...

Best price you'll find for this card, this is the one I'm running. Free 2nd day shipping, no taxes.. you pay EXACTLY 199.99. If you buy this you shouldn't have to upgrade for a long *** time.

Gonna have a hard time finding a card for under 100 bucks that runs EQ2, unless you can find one used.

The MX card is definitley not compatible. SoE specifically mentioned that card wouldnt work in a last minute bulliten before game release.

These are the videocards that will run EQ2, and you can find all kinds of good deals for less than $200 bucks at this site. Just click on U.S. sales at top of page then video drivers, good luck.

I am sooo glad when I bought this notebook I looked up the video requirements FIRST and ordered the unit accordingly. Yep, you heard it, I ordered a notebook with E2 in mind.

I feel for ya. It's always a sick feeling to stick in a disk and get a dreaded response, left in the cold while the world is playing around you.

REEEEEVE! /wave

Hiya :P .

And yes, the same problem happened to my IRL friend trying to run on a 64mb card. You can buy a nice Raedon 256 for around 100 bucks and the game looks --sweet-- on it. Unfortunately this game is pretty high end so :( an upgrade for you will be necessary.
