Where can you buy chests for your room that actually hold items? I have heard of bank chests, but don't know where to buy them.
I was wondering the same thing. Someone told me they don't exist (yet), but I saw one a large chest in someones house. I'm not sure if it could hold anything but I did see one.
Currently there are no storage containers available for inn rooms. Hopefully it will be added one day to advanced craftsman.

I made a maple storage chest last night and stuck it in my house, it just looks pretty - no way to use it I've found.
There are some items you place in your house that are useable (books, tradeskill devices, etc), so hopefully one day storage chests will be able to actually store stuff :)
On the other hand, the strong boxes do store stuff, but due to weight can pretty much only sit in a bank slot.
I too bought one for my room. I tried opening it from all sides, again and again. What's wrong with this picture? LOL!!
